Joep Mencke is a producer based in the Netherlands. Through his Dj-sets, breath-work, and, recently, his new live-set, he uses his music to facilitate an inward journey. His music, which is heavily inspired by nature and the immensely diverse cultures on this planet, can be characterized as: compelling, deep, and melodious. Had one of the better club sets of this decade this weekend. At least the flow took me on this beautiful deep trip.  The acoustics of the new @akashaibiza are of another world.

She was three years old when she started to learn the language of birds and animals. Her voice takes its breath from traditional Sakha culture and is truly an instrument. Niki Sadeki is a Vancouver-based DJ, musician and the host of the monthly podcast series 'Allure' on Frisky Radio. Due in no small part to her popular online mixes, Niki has steadily gained recognition within the dance music community.

From raiding her parents’ record collection when she was just a child, to becoming resident at Vancouver’s MIA, Niki has continuously been living with music in the forefront. Within a very short time, she has put herself on the map as an up and coming DJ.

I always found it challenging to record a studio podcast: my analytical mind is trying to calculate every move, evaluate each transition & criticize the selection. I have time, music & equipment at my disposal, but one key element is missing to really tell a story: humans.

I encountered that problem last weekend. Although I was playing music I enjoy, I felt that my technically structured mix was too stiff and impersonal. 

____

Then, some of my favourite humans turned up at the studio. As Ashley, Apolline, Axel & Robin entered the room, the studio was suddenly filled with a great energy & I felt like pressing the rec button again, just for fun - this is when the first minutes of  S y m b i o s e  were captured.

I feel this studio mix is an authentic representation of the energy levels I like to navigate through during a longer set. It features some of my favourite tracks in a nod to the past but also has a touch of the future; new sounds that are moving me forward & some of my new compositions.

I’m happy to share this mix as I’m taking off for Argentina, what marks my first adventure of the decade. This music session brought me clarity, presence & joy! I hope you'll resonate with it.

Artist Info:
Madota is the musical lovechild of urban shepherds Behnam & Mehran. Iranian by birth, Canadian by upbringing, these two have come a long way from their own journeys before reuniting in Berlin.

What we know is that their deeply rooted love for electronic music led them to storm Vancouver's nightlife as DJs since 2011 which in turn prepared them to start their experimentation with making music that pulls influences from their hyphenated backgrounds. Their music captures their subtle lust for colorful and organic sounds coupled with their itch for darker forward-leaning grooves.

Their music has already taken them to perform numerous times in legendary gatherings such as Katerblau in Berlin, ZERO in NYC, Acidcase in Berlin and Woomoon in Ibiza. They continue to nurture their lovechild in Berlin with releases on labels such as Get Physical, Kindisch and Kiosk I.D.
