Arash & Quasar's edit of Japanese tearjerker Nina - "Million Roses" hits so hard today it seems we were waiting for an edit like this for ages. Arash & Quasar (Truth and Star) is an electronic duo from Russia formed by two friends, DJs, collectors of rare vinyl records, musicians, and painters, Pavel Grachev, and Vitaly Zhulkov.

Pavel & Vitaly also film interesting programs from their travels and tours called DIG LOTO, where the main characters go searching for rare old records with their best friend Vestax Handy Trax, and share musical treasures with people on their YouTube channel.

Arash & Quasar was born out of pure pleasure, juggling pieces of different sounds. Basically, they take interesting records with oriental old forgotten music, find some really catchy elements and feel that something new and beautiful can come out of it with their own arrangements, synthesizers and drum machines on it. Perhaps this can be compared with how to make a collage of different clippings from a magazine. Only instead of pictures it's sounds.

Refshaleøen, waiting for the heat to come in the cold Copenhagen.
It all starts off with a dreamy/melancholic piano song from the Japanese composer Joe Hisaishi, to continue with an exploration of sensational grooves from all parts of the planet - Russian Synth-Pop, Jamaican Reggae to name a few.
MOQST is a French DJ based in Copenhagen for few years and signs the last track as a tribute for his roots.

Cet été, Radio Sofa installe sa Méridienne dans le nouveau booth du Top à @point-eph-m-re, le temps d’une résidence radiophonique estivale. Dans ce studio transitoire, orienté vers des univers phoniques non-dansants, nous recevrons sur six dates invité.e.s et résident.e.s pour des sessions exploratoires à écouter assis.

La Méridienne entend mêler, quelques après-midi durant, lumière zénithale et poésie sonore. Les sélections de nos convives, ouvertes au public, seront retransmises en direct sur nos ondes depuis les toits puis disponibles à la réécoute. Amateurs et amatrices d’ambiances lancinantes et de rythmes voluptueux, la Méridienne s’ouvre au grand jour le 3 juillet.

Radio Sofa sets its Méridienne on the roof of the Point Ephémère for a summer radio residency. In this transitory studio, oriented towards non-dancing phonic universes, we will receive guests and residents for exploratory sessions to be listened to sitting down.

La Méridienne intends to mix zenithal light and sonic poetry for a few afternoons. The selections of our guests will be open to public and broadcast live on our airwaves from the rooftop. Lovers of haunting atmospheres and voluptuous rhythms, La Méridienne opens on the 3d of July.
