We are delighted to welcome the UK's own Bailey Ibbs onto our mix series with his exhilarating set recorded live at the Abercrombie on May 5th, 2023. Presented by UNDISCLOSED x RAW, this event brought together the incredible talents of Stranger (NL) and Bailey Ibbs (UK). During his set, Bailey seamlessly blended techno, UKG, and hardgroove, taking the audience on an unforgettable journey.

Bailey Ibbs' mix begins with his 2023 groover ‘That’s Right’, setting the energetic and upbeat tone for the night. Transitioning into UKG, Ibbs turns up the energy by infusing infectious basslines and old-school vocal samples. As the mix progresses, techno and hardgroove elements take over, with pulsating rhythms and darker soundscapes driving the set to new heights.

With flawless technical skills and an innate ability to read the crowd, Bailey Ibbs creates an atmosphere of unity and excitement. This recording perfectly captures the raw energy of the event, leaving listeners in a state of musical ecstasy that lingers long after the final track fades away.

We are thrilled to have the legend Ben Sims on episode 100 with a very special 4h mix! Over the past 25 odd years he has released countless bangers and founded the labels Theory, Hardgroove, Machine, Ingoma and Symbolism. He is one of techno’s most exciting talents - a DJ who has stayed true to the genre’s funk. Enjoy!

ITPS100 BEN SIMS

As someone who has been a punter of the Sydney underground and doof scene since I was 17, to curate a space alongside others and watch it come to life through the power of community and divine serendipities was one of the most special experiences I have ever had. And it truly feels like 303030 2023/24 contributed something unique to the scene. We offered an affordable $20 event showcasing local talent through live music and multi-genre sets, and gave new and emerging artists an opportunity to play to a community of open, safe and like-minded people. I’m also so stoked with how much gender representation there was on stage. 

This dawn NYD set was the best way I could have seen the sun rise over the start of this year. I have found in learning how to DJ and now in starting to play to audiences that the main thing to learn is how to find a balance between playing what you want and what the audience wants. But as I was a host and organiser of this event alongside Marti and the crew, I felt it was the first opportunity I had to have free reign over exactly what I wanted to play, because I had curated the space. And what this set journey from UK Garage, to dreamy jungle and breakbeat, to half time bass, captures is a flow state that is a true reflection of me and the artistry I want to embody, made possible through the incredible producers that I admire so much and want to continue to portray. 

I was so engrossed I played another hour of half time bass and dubstep for the brekky hour that I might share in a separate post some time if I feel like it haha but if you enjoy a variety of dreamy bass music I invite you to listen to this and my hope is that you find something capturing in it.

Time To Track on 2SER (18/01/2024 - Alec Sander Guest Mix & Interview)

We're back with our 46th instalment of the UD mix series with Hüda.

Debuting in 2020 on Beats Of No Nation’s ‘Dance Ideas Vol. 6’, and having since released tracks on Pure Space, Companion, DMO and Touch Of Loft, Hüda has garnished support from Australian tastemakers Andy Garvey, Pjenné & Millú, Body Promise, Human Movement, and has received air time on community radio in Sydney and Melbourne. Both Hüda's DJ sets and productions span from euphoric house, to hypnotic jungle and breaks, to leftfield techno, ambient and downtempo.

Hüda’s mix commences with an ethereal and dreamy ambiance, inviting listeners into the journey. It smoothly transitions from deep, hypnotic techno to rolling, rhythmic patterns, intensifying the groove. The pace quickens, propelling the mix into the dynamic realm of drum and bass, injecting an exhilarating effervescence to conclude this expertly curated journey of underground sounds.
