I often experience auditory hallucinations. Sometimes it’s orchestras improvising endlessly, sometimes it’s would-be radio jingles. Often it’s a sort of cosmic droning, an indistinguishable far-off clatter, a cavernous creaking inside my head. If I manage to sit still and quiet, the sound starts; it’s as though I hear plants growing and stars twinkling.

With “daffodils”, I am inviting you into my head, in a way. I've tried to re-imagine some of the sounds I hear when there is no sound, adorned with voices, synthesizers, field recordings, pianos, etc.

The sounds I'm striving for come from within, so they just don’t sound the same coming from the outside, from a speaker, at least not to me. That’s why I call this “headphones music” and why I'd tell you to listen to these songs with speakers right up against your earholes.

Abstract reveries of renewal, sound collages of springtime hustle bustle, sonic flowers blooming amid dirt and decay. Almost ambient but it moves and sings too. You could dance to it, in your sleep.

Graceland

UNENDINGS is an indie band from Minneapolis. Our musical training includes singing in the same boys choir as Prince once did as a kid. Our voice is informed by battles fought alongside loved ones against depression, addiction, grief, and apathy.

We strive to make emotionally resonant music from acoustic and electronic ingredients. We write melodic pop songs but we're not too concerned with traditional song structures. We like to experiment, but always seem to come back to piano and vocal harmony.

Sounds we like: angel choirs, devil guitars, grand piano, dusty drum machines, trains in the distance, blips AND bloops, Animal (you know, from the Muppets), ice sculptures, lakeshore (any season), square waves, old home organs abandoned in alleyways, Motown, mellotron, fender rhodes, trumpets, timpanies, chase bliss, and zvex.
