Water is essential to life on Earth. It covers the majority of the Earth's surface, makes up over 50% of our bodies, produces our food, and supports livelihoods.  

But this precious resource is not infinite and we need to stop taking it for granted. What we eat, and how that food is produced all affect water. 

Together, we can take water action for food and be the change.

World Food Day 2023 - Public Service Announcement

Water is essential to produce food so it is no surprise to hear that a current global shortage threatens to push more vulnerable people into hunger. A frightening prospect, when you consider that more than 700 million already have too little to eat today. 
Ahead of World Food Day, observed on 16 October, the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has shared information about the latest technical innovations that countries can implement to produce the food that they need.

Global forests will be in the spotlight today at the UN Climate Conference in Marrakesh, Morocco for a “Forest Action Event”. Stakeholders and decision makers will be taking stock of the progress, challenges and opportunities seen in this sector worldwide. This 22nd session of this conference of parties - also known as COP22 – has been dubbed the “COP for Action”. Governments are expected to make concerted efforts to support domestic action on climate initiatives. According to the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization, forests play a critical role for many countries in their ability to mitigate changing climate.

Eva Muller, Director of FAO’s Forestry Department in Rome, explains more on how these forest issues are evolving.(Interview conducted by Sandra Ferrari)
