Korg Arp 2600M. Reverb out is used to FM VCO2, via the S/H FM input. VC03 is an octave up, and FMed by noise, with the noise color slider set closer to Lo Freq.  ValhallaSupermassive is used for a bit of metallic reverb, to help glue the notes together (this is a monophonic patch).

As Bright Patterns completes its fourth trip around the sun, we welcome Imaginary Softwoods as the special guest for November. It’s been a dream of mine to have John Elliott on the show. He’s been a part of so many incredible projects: Mist, Outer Space, Organic Dial, Emeralds—not to mention all of the eternally awesome records that were released via his expert curation on Spectrum Spools. It’s a treasure trove. All that said, the vast output of John’s solo project, Imaginary Softwoods, sits firmly atop this immense pile of sonic wonder. So many of these cuts have been played on Bright Patterns over the last four years. It is a vibe I carry with me, one that’s deeply embedded in my relationship to music. The last time I heard a mix from John was 2017 and I still talk about how good it is. With all of the gratitude to everyone who listens, I hope you’ll enjoy this mix of what he’s been listening to lately. Designed as a bit of a balm for a world in pain, it covers contemporary selections with a few new age classics, reflecting the daily eclecticism of his auditory diet. It also ushers in a new era for Bright Patterns, where it will run from 9am to 10am ET with the same Thursday cadence as it has been, each month, since the beginning.
