Born in Georgetown, Guyana and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Jahdan Blakkamoore has long made a name for himself as a gifted and inspiring Reggae/Dancehall/Hip Hop/Dubstep artist - both nationally and internationally. His music has been described as “Urban World Music with a message.” Jahdan’s sense of melody, superb song writing skills and ability to effortlessly cross over genres has solidified his status as a relevant artist in the music industry. Reggae and Roots fans may know him as a member of the group Noble Society or for his song “Cash Flow” on the Major Lazer project from Diplo and Switch. Jahdan is also a contributing writer and featured artist on Snoop Lion’s ‘Reincarnated’ album which received a Grammy nomination for Best Reggae Album of 2013. He’s featured on “Boulevard”, “Harder Times”, and lends his vocals to “Lighters Up” with Mavado and Popcaan. The single and video “For the Children” with Kabaka Pyramid was released on February 18th 2014 and is quickly gaining worldwide attention. Remixed versions of the single are also available from I Grade Records and DJ Child. Hip-hop heads who remember Jahdan from his feature with Smif-N-Wessun on the classic “Sound Boy Buriell” can now hear a long awaited collaboration on their new project ‘Born and Raised’ and see the new video for the single “Shots in the Dark.” Jahdan still remains focused on completing songs for his forthcoming solo album ‘Upward Spiral’ scheduled for release in 2014. Fans can get a preview of songs from the album on his upcoming mixed tape ‘Blakkamoore Chronicles Vol. 1’ and see him live on the Blakkamoore Chronicles Tour which began in Miami, FL at the 21st annual 9 Mile Festival. The tour will be making stops in California, Oregon, and Denver.

"I had a vision......When putting this project together I really wanted to focus on presenting myself to the world, not just as an Artist but Marla Brown herself.

I feel my whole being stems from love, faith (Most High) and unity, so it is truly important for me to communicate that through the music I create with these amazing artists and producers, so the connection can be made and received naturally between you and I, allowing yourselves to have an insight as to who I am and what I represent.

I also wanted this project to contain the ideas and concepts of life I feel needed integral attention - to liberate (others) and create a shared consciousness to encourage growth, empowerment and love (self and universal), thus the concept “Deliverance” being born.

Deliverance truly encapsulates my being, my arrival and most importantly allows me to give thanks for this life my parents and the Most High have continued to create for me, communicating my thoughts and feelings, my experiences and hopes for a greater conscious driven world.

Although Deliverance is my concept of my "coming" into the musical world, it is indeed one of my favourite songs off of my Dad’s album, titled "Visions" (Deliverance Will Come) which made everything just fall into place that this was my calling and my purpose being fulfilled just as my Dad had visioned. He always encouraged us to love, to smile and most importantly, to be at one with ourselves and our family.....I guess the time truly has come..."DELIVERANCE Has Come."

This project “Chimurenga” holds true to its name meaning, “The People’s Struggle” which is a Shona-Bantu word from regions in Afrika such as Zimbabwe. It represents that everyone who is able in the nation, from the youngest to the eldest, struggles for truths and rights and the progress of the nation as a people. This is why we want to livicate these works to the I-vine Creator of all substance and to our forefathers and foremothers throughout all the ages who have struggled for our liberation selflessly to establish equal rights and justice which is endowd, by life, to all and not some. Give thanks to all who I-tributed to this project and helped to make it possible. We hope this may inspire you to make a progressive change in your life today.
