Unit One was 10 when he first got into beats and his first vinyl (which he still has) was Pig Bag's "Papa's Got A Brand New Pig Bag" because of  the massive drum break in the middle after that he just fell in love with beats and breaks.

His first ventures on the wheels of steel occurred in the mid 80's when he was bitten by the hip-hop and Electro bug. It was during this period that he developed his cutting and scratching skills on his first set of decks.

Inspired by the likes of D.j. Cheese, Cash Money ,Marley Marl and of course Grandmaster Flash his passion for Hip Hop that was coming over here from the U.S. grew till he built his own crew with the likes of M.C. Chill and believe it or not a very young Richard Blackwood!. At the same time he was working as a trainee Sound Engineer in London and the crew started to record tracks and host parties and were picked up by Max and Dave on Kiss fm in 1988, playing alongside D.j.Pogo he did 6 weeks of mix sessions on their Hip Hop show.

In 1989 he became a fully fledged Sound Engineer working for Monty Python and formed a Dance band called Our Man Flint and performed 2 tracks live on Channel 4 at the Brixton Academy Dance Weekender whilst in the studio he was working on production with the likes of Jazzie B from Soul II Soul, Leila K,M.C. Mello and The London Posse.

1990 saw Unit One play at Notting Hill Carnival, Turnmills, Camden Palais and numerous bars in and around London.

1991/92 he was influenced by the explosion of the hardcore scene and started getting a name for himself as a hardcore D.J. with original sets blending his Hip Hop style with the new hardcore sound of the time.Appearences included Astoria and World Dance.He D.J. ed alongside Ray Keith, D.J. SS and Kenny Ken. 

Unit One took his innovative mix of genres to the radio in 1994 where he was the one of the main attractions on the very popluar pirate Flex Fm 103.6 and played week in week out on Sunday 

Away from the radio station he was busy playing sets at The Chunnel Club, Bagleys and Ministry Of Sound and has continued to play in bars and clubs in London and the South East.

Unit One also played at Fantazia's only ever London rave alongside the likes of Grooverider.

2011 saw him rock a lively crowd at the Slug & Lettuce Guildford fro 51 weeks.

Last Year has seen him do a 6 month stint at Jaxx In Fleet and 8 months at the Slug & Lettuce in Godalming and is currently the resident Dj at Mojos in Woking.

He has brought his original flavas to the digital age now and his sets are unique and never predictable with live remixing and original vinyl scratching staying true to his roots and passion.
