Ice Of Glass disquiet0314

This is my homage to Federico Durand and the lighter, more ambient material of Oren Ambarchi.  Both of whom I'm a big fan of.

I took my daughter's small music box and used a contact microphone to record several snippets into my Boss SP-202 sampler.  I hadn't used that sampler in quite a while and was pleasantly reminded of it's lo-fi beauty.  I played basically random sequences of reversed loops and one shots through reverb and delay and recorded that into my DAW on a single stereo track.  I recorded another track of messing around with some small wrench sockets in a tin through two delays and kept that really low in the mix.  Finally EQ'd it, bringing up the lows and really cutting a lot of the mids and highs since the 202 lo-fi setting really cuts.  Panned it to the left and voila!

Looking forward to the rest of this sequence.  Shout out to everyone participating.

An Old Rocking Chair(disquiet0315)

this is the second of a three part asynchronous collaboration sequence.  I chose to add a second part to FJNA's "Links" that he posted last week.  I used a couple of random pattern generators and two simple synths in SuperCollider to create a complimentary part.  I also added a faint sound of Cicada's in the background because I felt it fit nicely.  I liked the dynamics of the original so I used that as my guide as I messed around a bit.  There is a heavy compression on the right channel which I quite like what it did to the sound of simple computer generated sine tones.  Anyway, I hope you all enjoy!  Thanks FJNA for the inspiration!

I was drawn to this track for it's impressionistic style and it's overall emphasis on texture and abstractness(if that's a word).  I messed around on my out of tune piano for a bit and realized that this was in Amaj.  Diddled around and recorded some bits on my Tascam handheld and moved that to my SP-202.  From there added some effects and tried to keep it real laid back in the mix to just keep adding to the textures that were already in place.  Props to @photofractal and @ohjann for the mighty strong foundation with this one and super props to Marc.  This was very enjoyable.
