1986 darkwave, minimal electro band from Rochester, New York. The lineup was James Tabbi (vocals, acoustic guitar), Jeff Gallea (bass, drum programs, vocals, keyboard), Jack Schaefer (electric guitar) and Dan Brumley (synths, samples, vocoder, melodica). They released the "Bas Relief" LP in 1986, only 500 silkscreened and hand numbered copies of the record were made which are now extremely sought after by minimal synth enthusiasts. This gem has a wonderful low-tech warm driving synth sound that is infectious. The vocals are haunting and the bass lines remind of Joy Division. Almost every song is killer dark post-punk or electronic synth wave. They seemed to take cues from Echo and the Bunnymen, early New Order, Fad Gadget, and Depeche Mode. Songs like Watching Trees, Tears and Cinnamon, Portugal, Ignorant Father, and Temporal deserve to be heard. Timeless."

PARDON MOI - INSIDE THE OUTSIDE PLAYED ON 6 MUSIC

The latest installment from Roam Recordings comes from the impeccable Belgian producer Cabaret Nocturne who has previous releases on labels such as Beachcoma, My Favorite Robot, Nein, Factor City, and Rotten City. Cabaret Nocturne has been penning fusions of ‘80s pop, dark basslines, and unhinged house beats since the mid-noughties. His new EP for Roam Recordings is a fine addition to his already excellent discography. The title track "Western Ghost" sets the stage for this EP that sounds like it could be from a movie set somewhere in the desert outside of LA which makes it a perfect fit for a West Coast American label. The other original track "Lost Town" brings that idea home with its added guitar and surfer vibe key changes.

The Western Ghost EP also come with two excellent remixes from the likes of Kieran Holden and Damon Jee. Both of these accomplished producers take on one of the originals and deliver their own spin within the theme of this EP. Kieran Holden has a slew of excellent releases on labels such as Tici Taci, Play Pal, My Favorite Robot, Nein, and Rotten City. And Damon Jee also has a prolific discography on labels Blindetonation, Emerald and Doreen, Logical, Discotexas, and Rotten City. Be on the lookout for a solo EP from Damon Jee on Roam Recordings under his alias NOZZ (out later this Fall).

All four tracks on this EP come together to form an incredibly cohesive and easy to play EP from three solid producers that are shaping the sound of today’s dance music.

It was dusk on a summers evening. As the sun began to set it painted the sky with vibrant pink and orange hues. A winding road marked the only path through the desolate sienna desert, that was the route they must follow. Gigantic cacti in all shapes and sizes peppered the vast expanse around them, each holding its own character. They put their foot down on the gas and jolted ahead, picking up dust as they gathered speed. Until now the journey had been kind to them, nothing but calm nights and quiet days. But nothing could stay this perfect forever.

Berlin duo Local Suicide team up with German-American multidisciplinary artist Nicki Fehr for their Leopard Gum EP on Chloé's Lumière Noire. Having charted releases on Tusk Wax, Bordello A Parigi, Multi Culti and Ombra, they bring their unique blend of cold wave and post disco for two original tracks, complete with remixes from Niv Ast, Lauer and Smagghe and Cross.
