Mbongest a.k.a. Bigga a.k.a. J Bigga’s internal and external music experiences. He is a pioneer that believes in innovative aspects that can motivate and develop human mind. J Bigga is a music producer, Hip-Hop artist that lives in Katlehong (the East Rand of Gauteng Province). He started composing (Hip-Hop Music) around 1999 and he was always encouraged & inspired by creating more music that concern his life experiences. The skills he got through music he maintain them by always improving his composing skills by writing, recording & performing so he can reach his goals effectively.

PERFORMANCES

* His first perfomance was at Touchbase Tour in 2003 and featured as a newly signed and unsigned musicians of Hip-Hop that was organized by Amuse Africa.com

* Between June – November 2004, he performed at local Art Centre in Katlehong, it was a monthly event of talent showcase that was sponsored by Boom Twinz.

* Also in 2004, Bigga was chosen as an artist competitor who represented Katlehong at Jam Alley TV Show.

* Featured on A.K.’s Show on Y-fm, Bigga was alongside Bongo Riot of Gang of Instrumentals.

* Performed at the opening of the Enoch Sontonga Mall in Katlehong

* On the 26 May 2007, he performed at the NUMSA’s 20th Birthday Celebration @ Huntersfield Stadium in Katlehong

* Performed at Zuluboy’s Launch at Baseline in Newtown; alongside HHP, Pro-Kid, Ntsiki Mazwai, Gang of Instrumentals, Mo-Molemi & Zuluboy himself.

* He headed the Shorprite Hit City Tour with Bigga and friends.

* Emperors Palace’s May artist of the month

Bigga went on to study music programming at SCIM(Soul Candi Institution of Music) but couldn’t finish due to financial problems…

PRODUCTION WORKS

* Produced a track called “Shake It” by Gang of Instrumentals, which became second single in the album (Salute) was chosen by Renualt for an advert that promoted a new model named “Shake It” Renualt.

MOTIVE

Bigga has an understanding that only professional & inspirational artists who make it big time in the music industry, in other words he knows that besides being talented there are other qualities involved,  one has to acquire in order to be matured and responsible role model, qualities like controlling self-confidence, leadership & good communication skills & respect, networking with the various people in the business to get better advice, mentorship and all the help needed to make it though.

PROGRESS

A single is set to be out titled “wateva u call it” from an upcoming EP of 8 track titled “Off The Hook”, which is already being promoted through events / he is listed on Katlehong’s Community Radio Station (Kasi-fm). He’s also recieved good airplay on Kasi-fm, taking a number #1 spot for more than 4 weeks on their Hip-Hop Top 6. He’s had a flashing story of new hot artist from Katlehong (Bigga) and he now has a clothing endorsement deal with creative designer (T.L. Brands). He recently shot a music video & film crew is in the process of editing it.

PRESENT PRODUCTS

Bigga & a number of visionary artists, recently started doing arts platforms called Black Waters! Which is something they are building as a collaboration effort with artists & organizations from the East Rand & from the West Rand at large.

BRAND EQUITY

The brand name Bigga / J Bigga add value to human perspectives because the name represents growing big and forward with success no matter what circumstances in life you’re facing , but being positive at all times. What makes Bigga different from most within the Hip-Hop Scene, is the fact that he always finds ways to mix a number of genres into his beats as he creates his Hip-Hop masterpieces & yet he maintains a very African rhythms approach to his final mixes.

Emdee – “The Streets Is Mad”

Sibongiseni Kubheka largely known by his fans & supporters as M.D. / Emdee or Mehl’amdaka, was born on the 21st September 1988 in Zola one of Soweto’s townships. His Hip-Hop upbringing began back when he was in Grade-7 as a break-dancer and a fan of several groups who were making waves back then and he got inspired to start writing his thoughts. This went on to things to another phase when he began doing live performances within the Hip-Hop Sessions around Soweto; events like 1808 Sessions in Pimville/Soweto, Slaghuis Sessions in Diepkloof/Soweto, Graveside Sessions in Dobsonville/Soweto, Splash Jam Session in Orlando West/Soweto, Black Sundays Sessions in Diepkloof/Soweto, Mixtape Wednesdays hosted by DJ Medicine, & Thesis Social Jam Session in Mofolo/Soweto.

In 2005 Emdee became a member of Deep Soweto Hip-Hop Group, Emdee & Dagga were “Ghetto Mpilo”, his music was featured on the 1st & 2nd Deep Soweto Mixtapes installations. This led to the group performing in other areas outside of Soweto, like in the North West Province. He continued to make waves as an artist, and a lot of fans we fully appreciating his art form. This led to him meeting with a producer named Menu from Corner 36 and they begun working on a project together, which was meant to be released in the winter of 2010, but due to some complications the project was shelved. That didn’t stop Emdee, as he teamed up with another producer & friend by the name of Lebogang More a.k.a. Page and together they decided to work on some samples to create music for a project they planned to drop / release under their own label called “Morning Coffee Entertainment”. As a duo, they worked together – with Emdee as the writer / rapper & Page as the producer, seeing Emdee grow into a well groomed talent and phenomenal exploring his potential & guiding him to meeting with different artists like:- Sibongile from the band Misbreed, a guitarist from Kenya, Soul Skilz, Alkeida, Thando, L. Slinga, Moya Crew, China, Gun Man. He decided to work with mostly unknown names on his first project, as a way to make sure something comes back to the ghetto, the same ghetto that continues to support his music. You can tell by the relevance in his lyrics, that he matured his art form, he has paid his dues within the streets – earning him enough credibility as a rapper / entertainer.

Emdee stands as one of the greatest rappers Zola / Soweto has to offer, a smart individual who knows what he wants as a rapper & businessman in the entertainment game. His music presents a pureness into ghetto hip-hop, and yet a mixture of hip-hop and jazz, which projects a mature sound fresh from Soweto. He believes that with his sound & style, he is not only targeting the local market – but he aims to take his stories to global platforms. With the help of visionary & artistic friends like the Black Sunday Arts Academy, DJ Medicine,

Meet Lebohang More also known as “Page”, a record producer, disc jockey, music collector, selector and co-founder of Morning Coffee Entertainment with music & business partner Sibongiseni Kubheka widely known as “Emdee”.

Page is from Zondi in Soweto, in Gauteng Province, South Africa. Together as Morning Coffee, they are part of the United Natives Arts Consortium, putting efforts into organizations like TRUEGLUE.co.za and Crate Diggerz Emporium. This music journey started back in the year 2000, when he took an interest in growing ideology and took it seriously in the year 2003, and in the year 2005, Page started a group with his partner Soul Universal, the Blaq Soul Academy, where they dealt with production, freestyling and stuff, he has since worked on the production three tracks with Soul Skillz on his “Intergalactic Soulfood Tape”, also worked with Alkeida, a rap duo from Soweto. His work is largely known from Emdee’s first E.P. titled “The Streets is Mad”

Page is also a student of the music stylist “DJ Medicine” and is also a DJ partner to DJ Black Knight as the Crate Diggerz Emporium doing production and DJ sets together, Page is currently busy with an Internet Radio with Dice from TRUEGLUE, The Heavy Rotation Radio, and is also busy with beat tapes, and mixtapes of different types of genres, and will be busy on Vodoo’s production sampling hard metal into hip hop. Also a resident DJ at the Next Move Hip-Hop Shows hosted by Street Hawkers & Jangalala Hip Hop Sessions hosted in Jabulani, Soweto on the last Saturday of every Month. He also residents the Black Sunday Sessions, which take place once a month around Soweto & neighboring communities.

“My vision on music is to grow, be broad and learn as much as I can in what I am doing and growing wiser in the music”.

For my production I use a Roland MC 303 Groove Box Drum Machine, Turntable, Fruityloops 7 and a whole lot of Records for samples.
