🗯🗯 Was ist dein Lieblings-Club oder Festival und warum? 🗯🗯

Mein Lieblings-Club ist definitiv der Südpol in Hamburg. Von Profis für Profis. Dort hat es den einzig wahren Nebel, alles andere ist nur schlechte Sicht. Herrlich unkompliziertes Personal, bunte Mischung an Gästen und eine der besten Sound-Anlagen Deutschlands. Ja, das ist mein Happy-Place ❤

🗯🗯 Verwendest du neue Technologie oder bist du eher klassisch unterwegs? 🗯🗯

Da ich fast nur eigene Sachen spiele und ein paar wenige Tracks von Freunden kenn ich die Tracks in- und auswendig , das ist sehr wichtig wenn man die Funktionen der Player ausreizt, da geht einiges und ich bin absolut frei in dem was ich da mache. Ich loope viel, bau neue Tracks aus meinen vorhandenen, alla den bass von hier , Vokals und Synthes von hier.... So passiert ständig was neues, unvorhergesehenes ... Mein Anspruch ist immer unberechenbar zu bleiben...

🗯🗯 Is there positive developments you recognized during the pandemic? 🗯🗯

That nature has recovered a bit while we have stayed at home. It seems like the earth has gotten a well needed break from all the air traffic population and the air has gotten cleaner. A few years ago I was really shocked to realise there were no bees and rarely no insects in my little garden house during the summer. But last year I spotted a few and it made me hopeful.

🗯🗯 Did you gain something positive from this time with Corona? 🗯🗯

A well needed break with a lot of time offline. 

🗯🗯 Did your approach on creating music change during the pandemic and did it maybe even influence your style? 🗯🗯

I have been more focused on ambient music and I'm looking forward to share my journey with you later in the year.

I took distance with everything, creative pressure, image, social media, and focus on my biological rhythm, Nature, what is important. I am more balanced and inspired.

As I downloaded less music, I played the latest purchases and old ones I rediscovered, driven by the energy of rebirth and optimism when we'll all meet again.

🗯🗯 Did you have a mentor? 🗯🗯

My grand father. He was a coming drawer, and chose a humble path far from the spotlight to privilege a quality of life. He taught me everything, from riding a bike to swim, to travel.

🗯🗯 Hast du etwas Positives aus der Corona-Zeit ziehen können? 🗯🗯

Absolut. Ich fand die Entschleunigung zwischendrin gar nicht so schlecht. Ich habe mich viel mit Sachen beschäftigt, die vorher immer liegen geblieben sind, habe viel Zeit mit meiner Familie verbracht und versucht das beste aus der Situation zu machen. Langeweile kam jedenfalls nicht auf. 


🗯🗯 Was ist dein Lieblings-Club oder Festival und warum? 🗯🗯

Mein Lieblings-Club ist natürlich mein Heimathafen Rummels Bucht, den es leider ab Anfang 2022 nicht mehr geben wird. In meinen 9 Jahren dort habe ich sehr viele tolle Menschen und gute Freunde kennengelernt, natürlich einige Sets gespielt und viele Wochenenden dort verbracht.Der Abschied ist nicht einfach, aber ich bin sehr froh über diese Zeit und die Erinnerung bleibt.

Ich esse jeden Tag Suppe. Meistens schon zum Frühstück.

We are influenced by many different artists. Both the pioneers of the industry as well as the many new talents who continue to disrupt and experiment with genres. Lately we have been listening a lot to Chaos In The CBD, Keinemusik, Nandu, Yør Kultura, etc.

▌I What’s your favorite club and what’s your favorite festival - explain why!
I’m not really into festivals - but Waking Life in Portugal and Paradise City in Belgium seem really nice! As a favorite club, I will name Heideglühen and there are a lot of reasons. Music is the first one, of course, but among others, I can name safety and comfort, and I love that there's always a huge chance to meet someone you know. 

▌II Which artist influenced you a lot?
Lawrence influenced me a lot as a DJ. I can call him one of my favorite DJs. 

▌III What are you missing the most since March 2020?
My parents and my family in general. When the pandemic started, my tickets got canceled just 4 days before the flight. I had a tradition to go to Russia every year in March to celebrate my mother's birthday together with my family. 

I didn't want to put anyone in danger and be a part of the problem. At the beginning of this year, I decided to buy the tickets and finally see the family. I was so happy. On the 24th of February, the war started and it's still going... I'm from a small city in Russia which is very close to Ukraine, the airport in my city is closed, but I also feel quite unsafe when thinking about the idea of going to Russia because of my anti-war and anti-government political opinion.

▌I What’s your history with music in general and DJ-ing especially?
Mina and me (Dennis) were always very creative people, Mina used to to do a lot of dancing, especially hip-hop, in 2018 she discovered electronic music and began playing as a DJ in many clubs. I have produced and released countless tracks for me and also many other DJs/artists for years. When we met we immediately felt a special connection through a beautifully similiar perceiption of music we share. That was our starting point to say, ok we'll be doing music together.

▌II How would you describe your style?
We would describe our style in general as organic house, although we like to play a little faster than common artists in that genre. Also we fill in a lot of drum elements, to keep the groove going endlessly through our sets. We mix driving housebeats with organic elements, like chants, exotic instruments and others.

▌III Which tracks marks a highlight in your set?
Actually there's two highlights, that's "Birth Of A Tribe" and "Daylight" which are the two tracks of our upcoming EP "Birth Of A Tribe", which will be released on Get Physical Music this year, and we're very excited about that release!

Klassisch Sekt auf Eis. Aber ich habe auch schon Nächte mit Kamillentee hinterm Pult verbracht :)

Anfang des Jahres habe ich angefangen, selbst elektronische Musik zu produzieren. Ich lerne und mache solang ich denken kann Musik, dass ich nun bald meine eigenen Tracks in Clubs spielen kann macht mich unglaublich glücklich und hibbelig.

▌I How did you prepare this mix and what was your main inspiration?
I think preparation begins, subconsciously, the moment I agree to make a mix. Once that seed is planted in the soil of my mind, ideas swirl and I am sensing into which direction I want to go right up until I record it, and hopefully the fruit turns out ripe and sweet! I decided to go for a more upbeat dance mix, to usher in the summer. I am, as always, inspired by many genres and timelines - right now I'm loving everything from 'celestial' house, minimal, breakbeat, indie, and included lot of tracks from South Africa/with African rhythms. As a poet, I am a sucker for lyrics. Also, it doesn't matter if a track was released yesterday or 10 years ago, if I feel it in my soul its always current to me.

▌II How would you describe your style?
Eclectic, poetic, fun and deep.

▌III How do you make use of technology?
Someone once said to me, 'technology is like an angel'. I interpreted that as, machines can can be, in a poetic way of thinking, animated by the energy with which you go about using them. You 'feed' them energy, and that energy amplifies. I once had a silly but profound moment with my musical setup during a period when I felt disconnected from being a DJ and all the ego and stereotypes, and didn't feel like touching the cdjs much. Late one night I turned them on, and just watched them glowing back at me, and that kind of melted my heart, as if it were some sort of spaceship, and I thought 'right okay, what is my spaceship about, what frequency do I want to transmit?' And the answer came immediately, that it is all about love and connection. Reminds me now of a wonderful track by New Jackson... 'put the love in it.'

▌I Wie bist du zur Musik / zum auflegen gekommen?
Zur elektronischen Musik bin ich gekommen nachdem sich meine Band aufgelöst hat. Ich wollte weiterhin auf der Bühne stehen und Musik machen, aber eben nicht mehr von so ner großen Menge an Personen abhängig sein, wollte keine Kompromisse eingehen. Im Freundeskreis hatte ich ein paar Produzenten und DJs und das hat mich ohnehin schon fasziniert und nach dem Ende der Band hatte ich dann auch die nötige Zeit dafür.

▌II Welcher Track ist für dich ganz besonders in deinem Set?
Ein wirkliches persönliches Highlight im Set hab ich nicht. Ich finde es auch schön wenn ein Set harmonisch und nicht auf einen Punkt hin aufgebaut ist. Klaro ist es immer was besonderes wenn eigene Tracks im Set sind, so wie dieses mal meine aktuelle Nummer Redemption aber grundsätzlich mag ich alle Tracks im Set. Ich hab das Set spontan und intuitiv aufgenommen und es ist sehr bunt geworden. Ich hoffe das gefällt den Hörern und ich bin wirklich gespannt was die Hörer als Highlights in dem Set definieren.

▌III Was ist dein Lieblings-Club oder Festival und warum?
Ich bin ja seit ein paar Jahren sehr eng mit dem Ritter Butzke verbunden. Mein Einstieg war ne Residency und inzwischen darf ich den Club mitgestalten, was mir wirklich großen Spaß macht. Von daher ist die Antwort klar was mein Lieblings-Club ist, aber grundsätzlich gibt es in Berlin sehr viele gute Clubs. Das Niveau ist sehr hoch.

Ich achte allgemein immer auf eine schöne Stimmung von Anfang bis zum Ende, dennoch ist das Intro (die ersten 2-3 Tracks) schon mit am wichtigsten (Podcasts), weil es die Leute hoffentlich fesselt 🙃

▌III Wie würdest du deinen Stil selbst beschreiben?
Ich lege jetzt seit knapp 8 Jahren in Clubs & Festivals regelmäßig auf und habe mich auch vom Sound sehr verändert. Angefangen hat damals alles mit Deep House, danach kam dann Afro House & Melodic Techno bis hin zu Techno also schon etwas schneller. Vor knapp 4-5 Jahren habe ich angefangen mit Downtempo Sets was mich sehr inspiriert hat und auch unser Label „KataHaifsch“ zu dem gemacht hat wo wir jetzt vom Sound stehen :).
Im letzten Jahr habe ich sehr viele Indie Dance / Midtempo Sets gespielt. Also häufig immer schön melodisch, basslastig, vielleicht auch manchmal ein etwas sentimentaler Sound der zum Nachdenken & träumen anregt. Und dieses Mal habe ich mich wieder in dem Sound von vor 5-6 Jahren wieder gefunden und mal eine reines Afro House Set aufgenommen. Also ich bin oft sehr vielseitig vom Tempo was mich selber aber auch super glücklich macht, weil man immer wieder was neues entdecken kann und nicht festgefahren ist auf eine Genre.

▌I Wie bist du zur Musik / zum auflegen gekommen?
Als ich Techno nach langer Pause für mich wiederentdeckt habe, war für mich schnell klar, dass ich mich tiefergehend mit dieser Musik beschäftigen möchte. Zunächst wollte ich mich zu Hause einfach mit der Technik vertraut machen und Sets zusammenstellen, die ich beim Sport oder auf dem Weg zur Arbeit hören kann. Auch Producing faszinierte mich direkt. Mit Youtube Videos brachte ich mir die ersten Skills auf einem Traktor Controller selbst bei, später konnte ich mit meinem besten Freund in einem kleinen Club in Hamburg an Clubequipment üben. Als ich mich dann ein paar Monate in die Materie eingearbeitet hatte, wurde mir klar, dass ich meine Leidenschaft mit anderen teilen möchte und ich hatte recht schnell meinen ersten Gig.

▌II Hat sich deine Art und Weise und vielleicht auch dein Stil Musik zu machen geändert?
Vor genau 4 Jahren hatte ich meinen ersten Gig. Natürlich hat sich in der Zeit immer wieder etwas verändert, habe ich mich auf vielen Ebenen weiterentwickelt. Ich habe als Mensch durch das Auflegen mehr Selbstvertrauen entwickelt, traue mir mehr zu. Soundtechnisch habe ich mich eine Zeit lang im Peaktime Techno gefangen gefühlt, die immer gleichen Arrangements haben mich gelangweilt und wenig Spielraum für technische Raffinessen gegeben. Nun wurde mein Sound im letzten Jahr immer hypnotischer, bis ich nun im Hypnotic/Hardgroove gänzlich angekommen bin. 
Technisch entwickle ich mich noch immer weiter, lerne immer wieder neue Skills dazu und habe mehr Bock, dies auch im Club umzusetzen. So habe ich mir gerade ein Mikro gekauft und experimentiere mit meiner Stimme, das macht mir irre Spaß. Ich begreife mich immer mehr als Artist, nicht mehr nur als DJ, der den Job hat die Massen zu bespaßen (was ich natürlich auch gerne tue).

▌III Wie würdest du deinen Stil selbst beschreiben?
Am liebsten lege ich 3 Stunden auf. 3 Stunden, in denen ich mit den Ravern durch eine Achterbahn der Gefühle rausche. Es gibt happy parts, düstere Momente, es gibt mal einen Track der dich an ein Sommerfestival erinnert, dann wirst du von einem Rap-Part überrascht oder mit der nächsten Bounce Attacke vom Stampfen ins Shaken gebracht. 
Ich liebe es, den Menschen eine richtig gute Zeit mit Überraschungsmomenten zu geben. Dafür verbringe ich viel Zeit mit der Auswahl von Tracks, habe oft direkt in mind wie ich was kombiniere, um einen geilen Moment zu erschaffen.

▌I What’s your favorite drink while being behind the decks in the Club?
I’m happy to have stopped drinking alcohol. It was a long tough way to admit that I have a problem with it and that I’m actually scared of trying to play without it. 
Plain fact is, that I function better when I’m sober, emotionally and technically. 
So for now Club Mate is mostly the weapon of my choice, with pretty similar results. I loose control while I’m playing, drinking much more than it is good for me and feeling fucked up on the day after.  So while I work my way slowly towards drinking plain water, I practice other methods to deal with my insecurities than grabbing a drink. Dancing for example😅

▌II Could you take us through a day in your life, from a possible morning routine through to your work?
My morning routine to fight berlin winter depression:
I have a cold shower first thing. Always. 
Half a liter of green tea followed by half an hour of breathwork to get my mind and feelings straight. 
Then I do half an hour of qigong to fight the chronic pain in my body. 
If there is time I go for a dip in the river Spree. Yes!
Then I’ll have a luxurious porridge for breakfast. 
After that I try to organize my life for the rest of the day. 
That’s a good day. 
On a bad I was sleepless half of the night so I can’t get up. There is nothing more attractive than sleeping, escaping the overload with all the things I should do and a feeling of being incapable of taking care of myself. And I’ll sleep all day, ending up sleepless at night. And repeat. 
Morning routine works quite well, currently I’m trying to establish an evening routine.
And honestly in don’t know how to find time to do anything else in-between.

▌III Did you gain something positive from this time with Corona?
The biggest benefit was that I deleted 10.000 shitty tracks from my music collection, haha. 
No, seriously, i spent the first lockdown living in a little pop up community out in nature. After some weeks i realize that I hadn’t spent that much time in one place in decades. Also I was feeling happy for the first time in years. 
And I had capacity to contemplate. 
I had spent over 20 years on the fast lane successfully running away from myself and everything else. 
I have been deeply unhappy for ways too long, living the dream of a 20 year old while being in my forties.
What was my plan for the other half of my working life? 
I didn’t have any. 
And I liked the smell of freedom and adventure in it. 
So I did a professional training for somatic bodywork and started another, longer one for Bodypsychotherapy which I’m still into. 
In a way I’m doing what I always did, I help other to connect with their body and emotions, and show them how to let go of bullshit. 
And I had the call to talk about all that stuff, to show myself as what I really am and how I really feel and give others the chance to do the same. 
So i started a podcast RAVE & HEALTH which will go online in April.

▌I What’s your history with music in general and DJ-ing especially?
I've been studying academic violin and piano since I'm 13 years old, later I've studied music production in New York and music composition at the conservatory in my hometown (Buenos Aires). I've been dj-ing for ten years now, I really enjoy it and it's always a creative experience to find new narratives with different musical genres, soundscapes and I like to play a lot with textures.

I made the mix on Ableton and my main inspiration was the concept of sincretism, playing a lot with contrasts, break beats, folklore from latin america, spain and africa.

▌I What’s your history with music in general and DJ-ing especially?
Since moving away from Canada at 20 years old, living in changing places (Asia, then Europe), dance floors have always been a constant in my adulthood. I’ve even been lucky enough to turn my passion for music and curiosity about the diverse characters of nightlife into professional opportunities, as a journalist – in Bangkok, I had a nightlife column for a major news website interviewing DJs, promoters and performers. In Berlin I’ve reported on diverse aspects of the local scene for international media from Lonely Planet to The Guardian and USA Today.

That also brought me to a special connection to United We Stream in 2020 – I wrote about the platform in its earliest days for The Guardian and Thrillist, story about the creativity and perseverance of Berlin’s club scene despite the pandemic shutdown – a story I am very pleased I could help share to the world.

During the pandemic, and time spent on a Thai island in a home frequented by touring DJs with no events but plenty of house parties, I was able to watch, learn, practice and really take the leap to translating my love of storytelling to production software and being on the decks.

▌II How would you describe your style?
I describe my sound as a ‘Dreamcatcher of Disco and House’ – my aim is for my music to feel familiar, fresh… and of course, feel good.

With high energy and positivity, I seek to appeal to the free spirits and old souls within us all. I believe that nostalgia is one of the most powerful forces in music, and though we often see samples misused and abused these days, we can all remember times when a certain lyric or melody connected us to beautiful past memories, different times and places. For me, nostalgia can mean digging for soul grooves, Motown samples, 90s vinyl tributing earlier sounds – in this way, I want my music to be a trip down memory lane that’s always intentional, and pay respect to dance music’s roots in amplifying lesser-heard voices.

In short, my sound mostly spans worlds of disco, house (especially the early 90s), and when it comes to newer music, a special emphasis on producers who share unique perspectives with their music and provide diverse representation – for example, underground dance music from Asian and diaspora producers, Japanese house, etc.


▌III How did you prepare this mix and what was your main inspiration?
Lately, I’m obsessed with the sounds of 90s disco house – in this mix, you'll find a lot of that, and hopefully, feel that sweet disco influence bridged to 90s house music laced with piano and synths.

This mix aims to evoke nostalgia on different levels – bouncy 90s club energy and excitement inspired by earlier times. For me, the authentic feel of 90s vinyl and production with disco grooves is something that just can’t be replicated!

This mix also resonates with me especially as a bridge between me and my dad. Everything I know and love about music has been passed down to me by him. Back in the 70s, he had a perm and danced in platform shoes. Playing tracks we always listened to together helps me remember his spirit carries on. He passed away in 2022.

▌I How would you describe your style?
My style is eclectic - it’s super diverse and I always say I’m genre-agnostic. My approach to music is all about storytelling - twists and turns and building excitement. Sometimes it can be bright, other times trippy, but it’s always groovy. The sets I make really reflect my state of mind at the time and sometimes even the state of the world. It keeps changing.

▌II What’s your favorite food?
When I’m not doing music, I’m cooking so I’m going to cheat and share my favourite cuisine instead - which is Egyptian food! Not many people know what it is, and honestly it’s hard to describe but there are lots of super delicious dishes like molokheya, koshari, ful and fatta…yummmm. I’ll let you do the research!

▌III Which tracks marks a highlight in your set?
I think every set has to have many highlights - It’s never just one! A highlight for me is an unexpected track, it’s that moment that gives you this sudden sinking feeling in your stomach (in the best way), heightens your senses or makes you feel these subtle vibrations on your skin. It’s that part that lifts your heart or suddenly makes you smile. You tell me which tracks in my set do that to you.

▌I How did you prepare this mix and what was your main inspiration?
Soooo...Getting ready for a set is like laying out a roadmap, sorting through 100-150 tracks a couple of days beforehand. But when I hit the stage and feel the crowd's energy, that's when the real fun starts. I dive into their vibe, see what they're feeling, and let it steer the ship. It's all about being in the moment, reading the room, and crafting a unique experience together. So I pick each track after another based on that. There's something special about that live connection—it's where the magic happens.

▌II How does "Babylon" reflect your musical journey thus far? 
"Babylon" is more than just a track—it's a reflection of my personal and artistic evolution. It draws inspiration from the intricate tapestry of human emotions and experiences that shape us. Each note is a snapshot of where I am in my musical journey, capturing the essence of growth, exploration, and self-discovery. Through "Babylon," I aim to invite listeners into this journey, to resonate with the highs and lows, the twists and turns, and ultimately find solace in the shared human experience.

▌III "Babylon" seems to blend various genres seamlessly. How do you maintain this eclectic style while still staying true to your artistic vision? 
The eclectic blend of genres within "Babylon" is a reflection of my belief in the fluidity of music and the power of genre-bending experimentation. While my sound is often associated with melodic techno and indie dance, I'm not one to be confined by labels or boundaries. Instead, I draw inspiration from a diverse array of musical influences, spanning across electronic, world, ambient, and experimental genres.This approach allows me to infuse each track with a unique flavor and texture, ensuring that every listening experience is fresh and exciting. Whether it's the pulsating rhythms of techno, the infectious melodies of indie dance, or the ethereal atmospheres of ambient music, I aim to create music that resonates with listeners on a deep and emotional level.

▌I What’s your history with music in general and DJ-ing especially?
I come from a family where classical music was always played and listened to, and I played piano & harp during my childhood. I later discovered electronic music, then downtempo music from Germany, and immediately loved it. I started DJing in Berlin in the summer 2022 and it's been an incredible musical adventure since, which I can't wait to continue.

▌II How would you describe your style?
I like to mix different genres of downtempo & mid-tempo in my DJ-sets, driven by groovy bass lines and melodic moments, and I try my best to share a story with the people and take the public on a musical trip.

▌III Which artist influenced you a lot?
There are 2 electronic music artists who have had a particular impact on me, long before I started djing. The french producer Thylacine and the Leipzig-based band Wide Awake. There's often a track from one or the other in my DJ sets. For this United we Rise podcast, the closing track is one of my favourites by Thylacine: Memories from his album Transsiberian.

▌I Could you take us through a day in your life, from a possible morning routine through to your work?
It depends on how many projects I have on the go at once; sometimes I am solely doing music, other times when I am working a 'day job' on the side, it comes and goes, so at those times life is very busy because it's 2 jobs :') . But I think a lot of artists can relate to this - gigging can be very up and down, especially in the phase of 'establishing yourself', and it can be reassuring to have a steady source of income during those phases.

Regardless, a few key principles remain...I always start the day with a good coffee (this is like the highlight of my day haha) and a look at the sun (even though in London it's often raining)...I try to prioritise things to take care of my health, and one really important one for DJs is to work on your circadian rhythm - it's important to get outside in daylight first thing in the morning after waking as this exposure to sunlight helps to reset your sleep pattern. 

Usually I'm getting music admin or other 'day-job' type work tasks done during the day, and then it comes to producing and working on music for DJ sets etc, I prefer to do this in the evening when it's darker. Actually my favourite timing for studio work would be 7-8pm - 2-3am, I feel a lot more creative during these hours (which helps also for the DJ job) !

Finally, I have been working on having a proper wind-down routine at the end of the day - it's helpful to switch off all technology, and put the phone in another room / on airplane mode after a certain hour. I will try to do relaxing, present moment things for a bit at the end of the day, like meditate, read a book, take a bath etc, and get into the here & now because when we're working on tasks I think our brain gets so caught up in the future and our goals etc. Sometimes I'm also hitting the gym and sauna on evenings, also important for health!

▌II Which artist influenced you a lot?
My favourite painter is Rothko and I am very inspired by him, just in use of colour to portray raw emotions. I love simplicity, and I like bold artwork, whatever the medium be it painting or music. I love art where the message is communicated with subtlety. I appreciate raw, distressed and imperfect elements in artwork too, as opposed to a glossy finish. Musically, I've been inspired / influenced by artists like Nicolas Jaar, Kollektiv Turmstrasse, Mano Le Tough, Stimming, Recondite and many more of course.

▌III How did you prepare this mix and what was your main inspiration?
Once, during a set, a lighting engineer asked me exactly what mood I want to evoke with my music, and the answer always stuck with me (and I think it's very true in this set). I want to bring about a moody, groovy, hypnotic vibe - melodic, yet subtle and not 'in your face', but layered with quite intense emotional depth and some melancholic elements. I always think that being brought to feeling a bit sad on the dancefloor (or when listening music) is the best and it's a goal when I'm playing or making a mix. It helps you to feel the full spectrum of your emotions & release them. I really hope you'll enjoy this mix :)

As a reaction to the closing of all Berlin clubs and to the rest of the world being in quarantine, Berlin is showing its support and solidarity by bringing the biggest possible digital club to your home.

1. How Did Corona change your artist life?
Corona completely slowed down my artist life. I have been to clubs and festivals every weekend for years, and my dates for 2020 were booked pretty far in advance. When my India tour was canceled one day before departure in mid-March, I couldn't really understand it. Only when all other appointments were deleted from my calendar, I understood the seriousness of the situation. It felt a bit like I was driving against a wall at full throttle. At the beginning my creativity suffered quite a bit, so I didn't get anything right in the studio at first.
Fortunately, things have now relaxed a bit and I am now using the time for my upcoming label "Eating People", which is not just about music, but also about painterly art. Fortunately, this work also benefits my studio work. I was also very happy about all the many streaming requests from different platforms. It feels almost "normal" again. :)

2. Where did you record the mix and how did you feel?
I recorded the mix in my studio shortly after the lockdown. The session lasted for a few hours and was like a release from my head. You got the heart of it. <3

3. What are your wishes for the time after Corona?
Health, peace and raves for everyone!

Corona has of course put my touring life on hold, nevertheless I have tried and turn the lockdown into a positive time and reached some fellow artist to collaborate on music and utilize the time to stay productive and enjoy the country side where I am currently based.

🗯🗯 Do you have any wishes for the time after Corona? 🗯🗯

I do hope things will go back to normal of course although I also wish our industry would take a fresher start and open up to what’s great rather than what’s known for being known. So much grand breaking music out there that doesn’t break through because playing safe has been the leitmotiv of our industry for too many years. I believe this is a time of change and we shall push towards the deeper and forward thinking.

1. Wie hat Corona euer Künstlerleben verändert?

Corona hat einen gewaltigen Einfluss auf unser Leben und hat dieses völlig umgekrempelt. Keine Auftritte mehr für die Menschen, die über die Jahre unsere Freunde geworden sind, keinen direkten Kontakt mehr mit anderen Musikern und vor allem keinen Kontakt mehr mit den Menschen, die unsere Musik so sehr lieben wie wir. Als Künstler wurden wir fast allem beraubt, wofür wir die Jahre eingetreten sind und unsere ganze Energie aufgebracht haben.

2. Wo habt ihr diesen Mix aufgenommen? Wie ging es euch dabei?

Für den Mix haben wir uns extra einen starken portablen Akku gekauft, um unsere Technik im Freien betreiben zu können. Wir haben uns dann auf einer lauschigen Wiese hinter dem Haus von Feliks Eltern getroffen und dort denMix aufgenommen. Es hat sich sehr frei angefühlt, nicht an einen bestimmtenOrt gebunden zu sein, sondern einfach loszulassen und für sich zu spielen.

3. Was wünscht ihr euch für die Zeit nach oder mit Corona?

Das Wichtigste ist, dass alle gesund und halbwegs finanziell gesichert durch diese schwere Zeit kommen. Ideal wäre, wenn man noch etwas positives aus dieser Krise ziehen kann, daraus lernt und gemeinsam gestärkt in die Zukunft blickt.

1. Wie hat Corona euer Künstlerleben verändert?

Es hat meinen ganzen Alltag sehr verändert. Seit fünf Jahren bin ich eigentlich konstant am Wochenende auf Tour. Dies fällt seit März komplett weg und fühlt sich mit der Zeit schon eigenartig an. Mir fehlt der Vibe, das gemeinsame Zelebrieren von Musik und das ganze Drumherum. Doch ich versuche Positives aus dem Ganzen zu ziehen, arbeite an verschiedenen Projekten, für die ich sonst keine Zeit hätte, und kümmere mich wieder mehr um meine Freunde und Familie. Das ist auf jeden Fall eine schöne Sache, die mir gut tut und Kraft gibt.

2. Wo habt ihr diesen Mix aufgenommen? Wie ging es euch dabei?

Sehr gut ging es mir dabei. Neben Streams, habe ich verhältnismäßig lange keinen Podcast mehr aufgenommen und gerade hatte ich mal wieder richtig das Bedürfnis die ganzen Songs, die ich in den letzten Monaten gesammelt habe, zusammenzumischen. Das Ganze ist bei mir im Wohnzimmer entstanden.

3. Was wünscht ihr euch für die Zeit nach oder mit Corona?

Ich bezweifle, dass es in absehbarer Zeit eine "Zeit nach Corona" geben wird. Wir müssen lernen mit dem Virus zu leben und ich wünsche mir Konzepte, die es trotz Corona möglich machen Veranstaltungen durchzuführen. Die Leute brauchen Begegnungen und die Veranstaltungsbranche wieder Arbeit.

Grundsätzlich haben wir mit Deep Stories viele tolle Clubs und musikalische Weggefährten kennenlernen dürfen. Aus musikalischen Weggefährten sind nicht selten nachhaltige Freundschaften entstanden, welche trotz eines großen Entfernungsunterschieds weiterhin fortbestehen und für die wir sehr dankbar sind. An vielen Orten auf dieser Welt mit offenen Armen empfangen zu werden - mit der Musik als einzige Verbindung - ist einfach überwältigend. Im Rahmen unserer Möglichkeiten unterstützen wir vielfältige Projekte, die in diesen herausfordernden Zeiten nicht nur den Erhalt der Club Szene fördern, sondern auch persönliche Existenzen sichern. 

🗯🗯 Wie ist die Situation bei Euch? 🗯🗯

Tatsächlich entspannt, denn wir sind wohl auf. Derzeit steht unser zweites Release auf Deep Stories in den Startlöchern und der Vorverkauf auf Beatport hat bereits begonnen. Wir blicken gespannt in die Zukunft, auch wenn wir - aufgrund unser beiden Vollzeit Jobs abseits der Musik - gelegentlich mit langsamerem Tempo voranschreiten müssen. Wir hoffen im nächsten Jahr unsere erfolgreiche Veranstaltungsreihe Reihe, als auch unsere Release Partys fortsetzen zu können.

Uns ans Herz gewachsene Clubs in unserer Umgebung bangen um ihre Existenz, streichen teilweise elektronische Musik aus ihrem Programm - wir können es nur auf uns zukommen lassen und abwarten, auf welcher Tanzfläche wir wieder zum Tanz bitten können

🗯🗯 How Did Corona change your artist life? 🗯🗯

Of course, I felt some changes, but I can’t say that is was something big. Before the virus situation (except events) I worked a lot on my Youtube channel, label Siona and production. So, during the lockdown I stoped traveling but I didn’t stop working. I had more time to record new videos for my channel, worked on new releases, searched new music for Siona and chatting with listeners. I tried to use free time for other parts of my work. Also this helped me a lot to try don’t be focus only on the virus situation.

🗯🗯 Where did you record the mix and how did you feel? 🗯🗯

I have studio at home, where I usually record videos and this mix was recorded there.

🗯🗯  What are your wishes for the time after Corona? 🗯🗯

I would like to say my wishes during these times. I think, time after virus will be a little bit easier than we have right now. I wish to all people to try to take from this situation something good, for example to do what you didn't have time for before or open something new for yourself and stay positive no matter what.

🗯🗯 Wie hat Corona dein Künstlerleben verändert? 🗯🗯

Ganz klar, keine Gigs – vor allem am Anfang. Da erschienen auf einmal solche Formate, wo dir andere beim Auflegen zuschauen. Nicht wirklich mein Ding. Es hat zwar Spaß gemacht sich die etwas kreativeren Varianten auszudenken aber das Gefühl wie beim Spielen im Club oder auf Festivals blieb da aus. Auch die Arbeit im Kollektiv schlief ein bisschen ein. Im Sommer hatte ich kurz das Gefühl alles sei vorbei oder wir könnten uns irgendwie damit arrangieren. Es gab immerhin Gigs auf Festivals, leider unbezahlt. Corona hat mein Leben nun insofern verändert, dass ich mir händeringend einen Job in einem anderen Bereich suchen muss. Mein Studium hab ich zum Glück während der Krise hinter mich gebracht. Die Jobsuche hierin hätte ich wahrscheinlich ohne Corona ziemlich entspannt angehen lassen und nicht das erstbeste genommen.

🗯🗯 Wo hast du diesen Mix aufgenommen? Wie ging es dir dabei? 🗯🗯

Den Mix habe ich im Zimmer meines Mitbewohners an etwas gewöhnungsbedürftigen „Deanon“ Playern aufgenommen. Gepaart mit ein paar technischen Unsicherheiten war es natürlich ein schönes Gefühl „meine Mucke“ über eine halbwegs anständige Anlage zu hören.  Ich habe mir die ganze Zeit die Frage gestellt, ob der Mix mehr „clubstyle“ werden soll oder, ob es doch etwas chilligeres und mehr für zuhause werden sollte. Es ist eine bunte Mischung geworden. Fragen über Fragen also, die vielleicht diese fragwürdige Zeit etwas wiederspiegeln.

🗯🗯 Was wünscht du dir für die Zeit nach oder mit Corona? 🗯🗯

Ich wünsche mir für jetzt und die Zeit nach Corona, dass alle meine geliebten Orte der Subkultur und auch die der Kultur allgemein bestehen bleiben und die Krise überstehen. Ich wünsche mir, dass DJs, die sich eventuell nicht so einfach nach einem anderen Job umschauen können, irgendwie über die Runden kommen. Ich hoffe, dass aus der Krise Positives gezogen wird und niemand den Mut oder die Hoffnung in das was wir tun verliert. Ich habe mich nämlich auch schon sagen hören „Ich glaub das mit dem Auflegen ist jetzt wohl durch“. Es wird vielleicht erstmal etwas anders aber ich sehe auch, dass einige Menschen fantastisches auf die Beine stellen und so werden wir das Ganze auch überstehen. Lasst rollen diggis. ❤

🗯🗯 How Did Corona change your artist life? 🗯🗯

Corona turned my artist life completely upside down. Even though I still had the chance to play a few shows during the summer, the majority of my gigs got cancelled. I have no proper income since March and I’m depending on financial support from the government since a few months. It was not always easy to be creative in the studio. Mentally 2020 was a rollercoaster with a lot of ups and downs but I’ve found new inspiration and produced plenty of new music.

🗯🗯 Where did you record the mix and how did you feel? 🗯🗯

I recorded it in my studio at Holzmarkt. I mixed new tunes with older ones and added a couple of my own edits, as always. Since I’m not playing regularly anymore I really appreciated the opportunity to do a mix for you guys. It is something I always loved to do and it reminds me of my first steps as a DJ, making mix tapes for my friends.

🗯🗯 What are your wishes for the time after Corona? 🗯🗯

Since the pandemic will remain amongst us for quite a while, I do not really think about it. Even with the vaccine we will have to live with it for a long time. So when is after Corona? Autumn 2021 or even somewhen in 2022?

I definitely wish that we all get off it unscathed and healthy. Regarding my actual job I wish that the culture and event industry gets finally the right respect and support from the government and that we will be able to continue somehow after Corona. At the moment it doesn’t look promising even though there’s plenty of money to help.

🗯🗯 How Did Corona change your artist life? 🗯🗯

From going to the airport and being in a different city every weekend to spending too much time at home:) I could get some rest after years and years of endless traveling (I had another crazy traveling job before Djing so I never spent this much time at home in my entire life) and build some healthy routines but also it has been very difficult to keep the motivation at times. 

In my case I could spend a lot of time in my studio and catch up on some knowledge as a fresh producer. I released my first EP and some remixes and colabs on compilations. 

Also I’ve been doing a lot of live streams since almost a year now. I started playing music online from my living room in March and played almost every week on different platforms for different labels and communities until Turkey’s lockdown eased down a bit in June. I kept on playing less frequently through the summer while I could play small socially distanced gigs in Turkey - unfortunately I could not travel to Europe even though I had some requests for small parties. When the second wave hit the world I started my weekly residency on Twitch for Abracadabra TV. Live streaming every Sunday for 2 hours, different music every week is very challenging but also very rewarding. I love live streams and I owe them my sanity and my motivation to keep going as an artist. I reach a lot of people and we even have our insider jokes :)

I recorded it at home on my couch next to the window with headphones and traktor controller. It was cosy :) 


🗯🗯 What are your wishes for the time after Corona? 🗯🗯

Can not wait to give hugs to people without thinking about it and seeing the smile on strangers faces. I missed touring and being with people and sharing music with people in the same space, not reading but actually seeing their reactions to my music. I hope those days are close! I miss festivals and clubs and being carefree!

🗯🗯 How Did Corona change your artist life? 🗯🗯

At first, it was scary to receive little by little all the emails from promoters saying "we are very sorry, but we have to postpone", then I understood it was something serious. I quickly got into not smoking, no
drinking, eating healthier and producing every day, that felt great. After 6 months, small parties started to happen in Mexico so I have been able to play since September, of course not every weekend like before the lockdown but still a relief. I also feel that something is changing in the way I perceive the music scene.

🗯🗯 Where did you record the mix and how did you feel? 🗯🗯

I recorded it in Departamento Studio Bar, a club in Mexico City where I'm resident from. At first it felt so good to be back but I shortly realized it was only two friends coming but hurt to see the club empty, it was normally packed and sweaty.

🗯🗯 What are your wishes for the time after Corona? 🗯🗯

Stop using face masks and to be around people like before the pandemic.
