From Barcelona, Fernanda Arrau is back, presenting her latest EP 'Sexy Dance.' The talented Chilean DJ and producer made her debut on the label with "Calypso" in 'Muy Divas Vol 1', and now she immerses us in a world of shimmering sounds and hypnotic rhythms. The EP, consisting of three cuts—two of them original versions and a masterful edit by Bawrut.

The EP kicks off with "Sexy Dance," a track that's fresh, fun, and simultaneously seductive. With a playful bassline, echoing vocals, an enjoyable cowbell, and a solid drumbeat, this 6-and-a-half-minute song leads listeners into a state of hypnotic dancing.

Moving on, we encounter "Simple," a track that dazzles with its depth and sparkle. The combination of the drums and the enveloping bass keeps your feet grounded, while the pure pads guide listeners on a delicate and enchanting journey.

The perfect conclusion to the EP comes from the hands of the renowned producer Bawrut, who delivers an enigmatic edit of "Jenny Lind." This hypnotic cut captivates you from the very beginning with its magnetic bassline and precise drumbeat that builds an irresistible atmosphere. The initial sounds repeat like a mantra throughout the track, while other elements join in a cyclical voyage.

Irish techno, electro and electronica producer Chymera makes his debut here on Canadian
label My Favourite Robot Records with this superb 4 track EP.

Before now the talented craftsman has released on labels like Ovum, Kompakt and
Connaisseur and has been active for a decade. His sound is filmic and patient, features
plenty of great synth work and therefore fits in perfectly with the MFR sound.

Up first is 'Other Worlds', a serene cut with proud chords and percolating drums down
below. Slivery and reflective, shiny and golden, it's a lush way to start. 'Vertigo' is then a
more direct cut with pixelated chord stabs, arpeggiated bass and a slick sense of groove
that carries us well into the future.

On the flip, 'Inner Worlds' pairs things back to a more insular deep house groove. Sombre
chords sway back and forth as hiccuping snares roll over rubbery drums. There is mystery
and intrigue in the little pads that float about and the whole thing has a soothing effect on
mind, body and soul. Lastly, 'Erku' is the deepest of the lot, where bubbling drums and
synths unravel in an eerie and spacious sound world. Stuttering drums eventually arrive to
kick start things and the whole thing is soft focus and perfectly cosmic.

Once more here MFR have unearthed an artful producer who can do so much more than
just lay down a track - instead he injects a true sense of musicality into his work as
displayed on this standout EP.

Irishman-in-Berlin Bren Gregoriy returns to Josh Wink's label after 2014's Tidal with two superb house tracks. The title track is redolent of Chymera's melodic techno roots, but sounds more polished and assured. A surging bass and chiming cowbells provide the basis for crystalline synths, hissing percussion and dramatic woodwind. "Canavan Calling" is even more impressive; apparently inspired by a session with a Mini Moog, it revolves around a huge, dense bass which underpins thumb clicking percussion, chopped up, half-heard vocals and a building, droning riff. Once all of these elements are combined, they sound like a particularly malevolent version of Redshape.

Arabesque came out exactly 10 years ago. 

When released in 2007 the EP went for the most part unnoticed - a lesson learned to always choose your labels wisely. However eventually Arabesque found its way into Luciano's crate and it became an end of night anthem for him. He would include it on his Fabric mix. 

This EP has been unavailable for a few years. For the 10th anniversary I've given the two original tracks from the EP a fresh mixdown. In arrangement and feel they are virtually unchanged.

Do you know what time it is? It’s debut o’clock. Emitting his first material for Pampa, it’s &ME - craftsman of all things deep and sturdy, at the same time connoisseur of emotive touch and virtuoso of sure instincts, one of the scene’s central characters for a good amount of years now and one of the main figures of Berlin’s Keinemusik-crew. The man has been hitting the bulls eye of public perception several times in the past, meeting everything it takes to get a crowd going with an intent on the detail when it comes to his arrangements and sound. These new two cuts seem nothing less than the essence of his abilities.
There is “In Your Eyes”, the name lending A side to this EP, showcasing a rather pensive mood. It’s just a few bars for the compound of kickdrum, tuned hi-hat tambourine and shimmering background noise until the first chords of an improvised piano-piece are tenderly laid upon the beat. Add a synth-motive coming back and forth and you’ll have the main ingredients to this – in every sense of the word – floor-moving tune. Accordingly, the arrangement won’t aim for an all too obvious sensationalism and rather opts for a flowing and intertwining call and response of its elements, ultimately resulting in a staggering impact anyway.
In comparison, “As Above So Below” on the flipside is adding a fair amount of emphasis. It unfolds in a dry and dense sounding beat-architecture that’s suspense-packed with shaker sounds and subtextual field recordings. Most certainly, a slip-proof ground for this tune’s centre-piece, a scale-riding synthbass sparking an almost anthemic trigger for floor-ecstasy. While details like subtle reverberating tapping and sparkling ambient textures sound like recorded deep down in a dripstone cave, the overall energetic layout pushes relentlessly to the heights of peaktime-grandeur. There you have it: “As Above So Below” - this tune works on every level.
