Week #1 of my New Music Mondays. I aspire to make it to 52 weeks. That's a lot of music.(!) 

This is an original song about the journey of letting go of something I thought I couldn't be without. It's ambiguous enough to mean:
🅰 • something (a physical item); or 
🅱 • someone (an unhealthy partner); or 
🅲 • some characteristic of personality (like sadness or anger).

While at the airport with my family, lost in nostalgia, I started writing this song. I found myself questioning, who am I? What actually matters to me in life? And, how did I come to realize the importance of these things?

Due to complex trauma, I'm an emotionally enmeshed human. I'm working hard on overcoming codependent tendencies. So, instead of thinking for myself, I'm susceptible to taking on your (or society's) ideas of “what matters.” What did I take on, in my unconscious thirst for your acceptance & validation? Which of these things will actually still matter on the day I lose the people who I love that matter the most to me? 

When I dance or even just bob my head to music, I love how my senses (physical) and my heart (emotional) are in sync. For me, to dance is a meditation — it's a way to get the body & the mind connected and aligned. So when I'm rocking to the rhythm that EDM holds all of me in, I feel authentically in touch with who I am and what I feel. There's a sense of "Hey, I'm safe," and "Hey, it's ok to be me." And in that sanctuary, I'm safe from danger, anxiety, and fight/flight/fawn responses. And I can investigate such deep questions with much clarity. That’s what this song means to me.

Whats up good people!—

This is my 1st time writing a song with a whole rap section in it. It's kinda challenging but also hella fun to trying to rhyme words with as many syllables as I can over and over. The lyrics look like a nightmare but it was really cool that the AI singer can do accented words to emphasize the rhyming and I can really hear it come through (see the wacky capitalizations in the abridged lyrics below)

BTW I'm planning to record my own vocals when I release the real the actual album later this year.
