Following the internationally celebrated release of their debut collaboration Snowblower on Octopus Recordings back in February 2021, Kuukou label boss Simina Grigoriu and Milan- based producer Stiv Hey now join forces once again, as they prepare to release their incredible follow up record, Remote Alliance.
Due for worldwide release on Friday, November 19 via Simina’s long-standing Kuukou Records imprint, Remote Alliance is the latest techno weapon to be added to the German imprint’s expansive musical arsenal, as Simina and Stiv team up to deliver a sophomore offering of gargantuan proportions.
Driving and aggressive, whilst also remaining nuanced and considered, the impressive single pulsates with dark midnight energy across its duration, as the in-form producers continue their unending exploration of sonic landscapes into the mesmerising depths of techno euphoria.
A heady amalgamation of intricate rhythms, rolling acid basslines and expertly manipulated vocal samples, the unique underground treatment gradually unfolds over the course of the seven-minute cut, as the two producers unravel a complex tapestry of tantalising soundscapes and melodic breakdowns to deliver another extraordinary showcase in avant- garde techno production.

Next up is Clif Jack. Originally born in Italy - Clif Jack has enjoyed an illustrious career both in and out of the studio and has released music with labels such as Solamente, Tre Gamb and Filth On Acid. Here he makes his return to Kuukou with a white-hot 2-tracker built for busy floors. 

'Perfect Collusion' kicks things off. Progression is piloted by a rough, muscular kick that hammers under a stifled vocal and sharp, harmonic percussion. Energy is pulled towards a dark and spacious breakdown with sufficient gravitational pull to draw the floor into a catatonic headspace before a plunge into a moody and mobile conclusion. 

'Body Odyssey' then follows up with a kinetic and quick-footed counterpart. Classic rave breaks rebound off a tight kick drum while caustic blobs of acid burn burn and swell alongside a mind-mangling vocal cut. Production is clean and precise but the mood is murky, twisted and psychotropic.

This year has been a a very difficult one for me personally as an artist and a person. The timing for the request to do a flow set was perfect for me as Melbourne was just beginning to come out of restrictions and I felt more positive that I have in a long time. With this new positivity I felt able to embrace and hold the difficult emotions that I’ve been struggling with this year. So this set is really an emotional journey for me and reflects a healing and uplifting end to the year for me.
