As elders, we are bombarded with advertising messages and social cues that prompt us to be active, look younger, and stay healthy and vibrant. What this cultural messaging neglects to tell us is how to navigate one of the most sacred journeys we will ever make... the transition from aging to end-of-life.

In this brief talk (followed by a two-hour experiential workshop), you will learn how to create a more positive relationship with death and grief as you face the loss of loved ones and the reality of your own eventual departure from physical life.

This talk will address the wildly dueling realities we are dealing with in the U.S. political situation and culture. And then, will take that lens out to explore the many spiritual traditions that hold concepts that the world we see with our senses are “illusions.” There is a difference between illusion and unreal. I have found that being able to dance with the paradox of the real world and illusion is liberating and makes life a lot more fun. We’ll explore these deep and life-changing concepts this Sunday. This Sunday, December 1st, 2024, is the first day of Advent, a four week season in the Christian calendar in which those of the Christian faith celebrate in reverence the coming of the man popularly known as Jesus Christ, an incarnate prophet whose life was reportedly replete with miracles.  Let’s dance together with the miraculous this Sunday as I take an exploratory dive into the many miracles of Jesus as chronicled in the Bible, and in keeping with the multi-faith culture of our Unity Community, also dig into other well documented miracles from around the world, such as the levitating and teleporting Yogi’s of India, and even some from my own life, including an encounter I had with a burning bush shortly after sternly issuing a challenge to God in a moment of deep suffering to clearly reveal himself to me once and for all.

You can’t do life your way if you don’t know who you are! When you know who you are you can do life with coherence and confidence. My talk this coming Sunday on confidence is in Divine Order as it is highly relevant to my life - and I suspect to the lives of everyone here. It’s about our journey into knowing who we are, initially as a person but ultimately as a spiritual being having a human experience. This journey into Spiritual awareness is what Unity and all true Spiritual teachings aim to achieve. There is no other journey as powerful, important and impactful to our confidence in the goodness, happiness and success of our lives as the journey into Spirit. For most of us we begin by learning who we are as a person. “Know thyself” as a person often comes before knowing who we are as a Spiritual Being. At least for me, it was a long and winding road from self-awareness to Spiritual Awareness.

Please join me as we explore some stories, ideas and practices that can lead to the ultimate goal in life, knowing who we are, both in our human awareness and our Spiritual Awareness, so that we can create our best life as the unique and wonderful beings we were meant to be.

We may find ourselves focusing on the sea-serpents and storms that await us or questioning the sea-worthiness of our vessel. Together, we’ll explore how to get out of the harbor. We must ultimately pull up the anchor and sail for ships were not meant to stay in the harbor.
