I wrote this years back in 2020-2021, possibly with revisits and additions during the years following.

Many of the thoughts, feelings and emotions expressed in this track have continuously resurfaced over the years, even to this day—the day I’m writing and posting this.

My first time back in the studio during summer of 2024, after years away, I chose to record the track I felt most resistant to record and release.

Resistant because there’s a lot of negative affirmations spoken here, which affects not only myself but also anyone who listens.

Yet I value vulnerability & realness, and I sense it’s important to be transparent in order to heal and build real connections and authentic relationships. I also value and know the healing power of expression.

It’s important to acknowledge the Law of Attraction & how our thoughts create or influence reality. What we focus on grows and is reflected back to us, and we are what we consume. We are what we put in and on our bodies, what we listen to and read, the conversation and thoughts we entertain and engage with, the company we keep, the environments we occupy, and so on. I want you to keep this in mind as you listen. Yet even though there are many negative affirmations in this song, I sense there is or can be a backwards medicine in giving a voice to the dark, low, troublesome thoughts, feelings and emotions we find ourselves navigating at times. Whereas suppression can cause inflammation and sickness.

So, I acknowledge the importance of expression and connection.

That and I trust these words can help someone listening. That someone might feel less alone in their struggles if they find they relate to any of what I’m sharing here in this track. 

Yet I don’t want anyone to steep in the emotion of this song.

Let this song bring forth tears if need be. I actually encourage this. However, for any of you who currently relate to the depths and motions expressed in this song—for any of you who’re feeling angst, despair, fear, terror, anger, sadness or sorrow, once you’ve processed or released even a bit of emotion through listening, take the headphones off and move forward and on. Do your best not to steep in your suffering longer than need be to move the emotions through. Offer yourself the gift of grace. Put the song aside, take some deep breaths and go for a walk. “Don’t trust your indoor thoughts”. Get outside if you can. If that feels like too much, make yourself a cup of relaxing tea if you wish, lay on your back, close your eyes, and rest for as long as you need. Journal, write your own lyrics, do something for your inner-child or call or text someone close to you and ask if they have a moment to listen. You’re not alone in what you’re going through.

I pray you find peace. I pray for protection over you. I pray you come to love yourself and know yourself—your true, radiant, joyful self that exists beneath or beyond the trauma you’ve been through. I pray you find healing, rest, connection and community. Your inner-child is calling for you. Join him, her, or them. Be with your little one for some time—check in and have a conversation. Whatever you’re going through, there’s a brighter day if you have faith and keep going. The rain doesn’t last forever. Eventually the sky clears and the sun shines again.

The agility of the tweet of the bird above the tree with it's feet that tickle the creek, an epiphany of divinity in the stream, current of life,
I'm not afraid of death, it doesn't exist, I am death, I don't exist, I am dead, irony in the twist, duality in the midst of switching the mist,
Fix the crystal elix, wizard eating shrooms burping tunes, swish with the flick of a wrist,
Open the doors of the tombs, carrying the sword from the womb, alchemist with a gold sealed wound.
