This was the set I performed at the Ideal Tidy Weekender in April 2014. The set theme was the History of Hard Trance. Rather than try to do an extensive run through an hour's worth of the history in order, I simply picked my favourite hard trance tracks from the years. A lot of these were tracks which were instrumental to me wanting to produce the sound. I also played three of my own productions, two old ones which I felt really made an impact for me, and also my latest brand new track 'Rollcage' to finish. It was one of the most enjoyable sets I've played in so long, was a different spin for me and meant a lot to play all these amazing records. I hope you enjoy the free download!

The official press release that accompanied this CD through my letter box claimed influences from Electro, Techno, Drum and Bass and House, many inspired by Guyver’s love of movies. It starts off with a nice chunky beat at around 140 BPM with some nice use of piano and acoustic guitar with atmospheric noises, especially in track 2 (The Celestine Prophecy) that is classic Guyver. It’s all pretty solid fair, well produced and sharp with the required uplifting elements of Trance and the drive in the basslines and beat of a harder sound. As you progress through the CD the Influences start to become apparent. There no doubt as you head past tracks 5 and 6 (Jazz Hand, Heaven & Hell) that there’s some DnB in there with Heaven and Hell standing out particularly well for some stomping action which for some reason sounds like it should be faster than it actually is. Synth stabs are underlayed by a great big fat dirty bassline and chord changes highlighted with subtle female vocal. Great stuff. 

As you head on through the momentum is maintained and its now the techno influences reveal themselves. There’s nothing over complicated and fussy here, the uplifting elements from the earlier tracks are replaced with shorter breakdowns and greater use of percussion with only minimal synth patterns and twisted stabs. While the weight of the tracks undoubtedly grow through the progression of the CD the BPM doesn’t and it’s perhaps for this reason that for the second half of the CD seems to be weaker. I’d have liked the sum of the parts to add up to something greater and for me he doesn’t quite pull that off. It does get slightly repetitive but being from a single producer whose style is well known I guess that’s to be expected. Having said that it is very well done and sure to find supporters in both listeners and DJ’s alike.

For UHT Vol.12 we have the Chilean DJ and future producer Ariel Beat​.

Ariel Beat is a DJ and future Chilean producer of Hard Dance Music, specializing in the sub-genre Hard Trance. With more than 5 years of experience since his official debut at Forest Parade 2010, he has conquered the ears of new generations, infecting the public with force and energy and going through different styles, such as Hard Edge, Tech Dance, Hardstyle, Subground (being the first local DJ to mix this style), as well as Hard Trance Music,  With the support and recognition of international artists such as Shock: Force, DJ Chuck-E, Ultraviolence, Danny V., The Sixth Sense, DJ W, Wragg, Iain Cross, Rinski and Noizy Boy, to name a few.
He has gone through various stages during his career, some of them are Dance Capitolium, Forest Parade, Kick & Bass, Punsh !, Andstylez, etc. and sharing with international artists such as Angerfist and Daniela Haverbeck, and also with nationals such as Hans Noise, Fabian Argomedo, Aerotek, Yurner, Tediz, Danidemente, Aeonpit, among others.
