“Bandera”, 1915 (2018, Independiente)

“Cambiaste el dial y la TV / y las noticias son parecidas / el titular es casi igual / es que lo escribe la policía”. Si algún despistado lee la primera estrofa de “Policía”, la canción que abre “Bandera”, segundo álbum de 1915, puede pensar que se está ante a una banda punk o de rock contestatario. Pero no. La base es un groove irresistible de pop-funk, perfecta para mover el cuerpo.

“Bandera” es el sucesor del álbum debut de 1915, “Dual” (2016). Producido por la banda junto a Guille Salort (baterista de Emmanuel Horvilleur, Marilina Bertoldi y Conociendo Rusia), se trata de un álbum de pop con los pies sobre la tierra. Sus canciones hacen diferencia a partir de un juego a dos niveles: por un lado, la seducción del synth-pop orgánico, y por el otro, el anclaje en la realidad concreta. Entre sus influencias se encuentran artistas como New Order, Depeche Mode, Nile Rodgers, Jamiroquai, Virus y Emmanuel Horvilleur.

Tras el comienzo imponente de “Policía”, el álbum continúa con “El enemigo”, un tema potenciado por la incorporación de vientos y una letra que, sin recurrir a un estilo panfletario, hace referencia a los desaparecidos de la última dictadura cívico-militar en la Argentina. Pero más allá del contenido de las letras, el álbum tiene una musculatura sólida a partir de grooves magnéticos, conseguidos gracias a la sutileza y claridad de los recursos. En ese sentido, mientras “Canción de bolsillo” se abre a partir de sintetizadores filosos, “Prisma” hace lo suyo con una línea de bajo atractiva. No hay exageraciones en las canciones, y eso le permite a la banda moverse por distintos estilos sin sonar forzados: “Olas” fluye entre una cadencia de reggae y balada pop. “Dame una bandera”, por su lado, juega al funk suave, con una intensidad que va creciendo de a poco. “Invencible” mantiene el mismo aire, con un estribillo poderoso que podría haber salido de “Travelling Without Moving” de Jamiroquai. Para el final, en “Ya no se qué hacer”, se animan a dar un paso más adelante y consiguen una textura sorprendente, al mejor estilo Daft Punk, demostrando que la banda tiene suficiente capacidad para pelear por un lugar en lo más alto del pop contemporáneo.
