Dr Gavin Brown from the University of Leicester's Geography Department discusses Nelson Mandela's life with the focus on the his imprisonment.

Dr Brown looks at the non-stop picket line that took place between 1986-1990 outside the South African Embassy in London. The non-stop picket called for the release of nelson Mandela.

Dr Gavin Brown speaks to Hannah Tucker about his own personal campaigning experience, his research and Nelson Mandela himself.

The research has been funded by the Leverhulme Trust.
