Kate Betts is a fashion journalist and a contributing editor at Time magazine. Betts is also a columnist at The Daily Beast and until this year, she was also the editor of Time Style & Design.

Previously, Betts was the editor in chief of Harper's Bazaar, where she completely redesigned the 134-year-old fashion title and became known as the youngest editor ever to take over a fashion magazine. She moved to Bazaar from Vogue, where she was the fashion news director from 1991 to 1999. Betts was recently named one of the top 10 fashion editors by Forbes. She is also the author of Everyday Icon: Michelle Obama and the Power of Style.

Design Matters with Debbie Millman: Kate Betts

Gail Anderson is the former creative director of design at SpotCo. From 1987 to early 2002, she served as senior art director at Rolling Stone magazine.

Anderson’s work, which has received numerous awards, is in the permanent collections of the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum and the Library of Congress. She is co-author, with Steven Heller, of six design books and the upcoming New Modern Type.

Anderson teaches in the School of Visual Arts and is the recipient of the 2008 AIGA Medal, and the 2009 Richard Gangel art direction award from the Society of Illustrators.

Eddie Opara was born in Wandsworth, London in 1972. He studied graphic design at the London College of Printing and Yale University, where he received his MFA in 1997. He began his career as a designer at ATG and Imaginary Forces and worked as a senior designer/art director at 2x4 before establishing his own studio, The Map Office, in 2005. He joined Pentagram’s New York office as partner in October 2010.
