I really love my guitar solo in this tune. The solo section is in 11/8 time (actually alternating measures of 6/8 and 5/8) and it took me a long time before I started to feel comfortable soloing over it. I actually feel that the weird time signature helped me phrase more economically because I was forced to really pay attention to the rhythm section to keep my place, and as a result I played with more space than I normally do.

Step Back In (2006)

Something I do often is just record crazy stuff. Obviously I do this alone, no one endorses this type of behavior. I pretty much just go from instrument to instrument dropping tracks on top.

A traditional fiddle tune done fairly straight 4/4, then done 12/8, then done in minor key with a habanera or tango-ish.  Of course, I had to add some screaming pedal steel.
   Soldier's Joy is a euphemism for morphine.  Pain relief is a joy.
