The birds are back! This is basically an anticipation of what is expected to be the second part of my "Terrabirds from Quintenix" EP, previously released in mid 2022. This have only 3 tracks, 2 of them previously done exclusively for Dwelling of Duels for Magfest Free Month featuring a few talented musicians playing a variety of instruments.

That second part is expected to have like 8 - 10 tracks including improved versions of these. Hopefully it'll be released sometime in mid or late 2023 as I keep ruining more of these tunes from these old good obscure games.

While track 1 is kinda serious and good-sounding, please, beware of the birds assault in track 2. Track 3 is a demo exclusively included in this anticipation and it's expected to be improved and finished for the mentioned Terrabirds from Quintenix II.

I lost the count of how many times I ruined that classic videogame tune: "Bloody Tears" from Castlevania.

And this time it's instrumental; no need to be afraid of the birds! :P

The title "Bleeding Ears AGAIN" is a reference to S.S.H.'s own second version they called as "Bloody Tears Again". The subtitle, "Attack of the Killer Mummy" is just a silly reference to "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes" and the boss of that stage in Castlevania IV.

Musically it's more of my usual synth metal with elements from orchestra, electro and more. Nothing remarkable there, and no actual musicians featured but just me toying with the arrangement and stuff alone.

I hope someone can enjoy this regardless of the quality (yeah, I know how to sell myself pretty well!)

STORY / BORING TEXT

This was originally made for the monthly videogame music contest of Pixel Mixers. It's "recover month", which means covering something that was covered before, whether by you or anyone else. While it'd be easy to remake some of my earliest and worst attempts of ruining music, or ruining an arrangement originally made by someone close, I just though of going to a totally different direction and instead picked something from a japanese artist that, unfortunately, is not very well known in the western world. Someone with names or nicknames like Shiki Hyokura, Nota Lacrimae, XX and probably more.

I remember checking random stuff in random corners of the internet years ago to eventually find in the (now defunct) site of some japanese artist (doujin?) that had a lot of cool mp3s to download. Well, to be fair there were a lot of them in the 2000s or even 2010s as long as I know. That one, however... it just blown my mind since the first time I listened to it. It's so metal... so brutal yet melodic and emotional. Very much my thing. Plus the arrangement and structure is very similar to how I'd personally do.

So that was one of the first choices I had in mind when I though of submitting to that contest. I had the pleasure to count with a team of talented musicians and nice people on this, and the result is what you can hear there.

ℹ️ STORY / BORING TEXT:

I was personally never a huge football/soccer aficionado. Even less so since I grew in the era of FIFA and PES with their superfluous focus on hyper-realistic graphics and licensed mainstream music hits of the time, which never said anything to me.

However, as I have older brothers and we grew up with older consoles at home I was lucky enough to know and appreciate the older and more simplistic but more charming stuff that was cooking just some years earlier. And while I still suck at sport games (the game footage moments of this video are actually CPU vs CPU!), Super Soccer (also known as Super Formation Soccer in Japan) was always different, kinda special for me.

Unlike the newer, fancier soccer games, this one has actual music. A lot of these tunes are pretty catchy, with really good melodies and stuff. And the intro was especially rockin as hell. So it was a matter of time, especially since my skills as arranger got better and I'm lucky enough to count with really amazing musicians to play for me, to make something about it.

And so here's it, including video with everyone personified as colorful chocobos playing around and some weird visual edits and stuff.

Once again, soccer games was never my favorite kind, but I have special feelings with this particular one, and pretty fond memories of playing this with with my older brothers in the actual SNES when I was a very little kid. Sadly one of them passed away at december 2022, so I did this especially with him in mind, as he loved this game so much and I had so much of fun playing with him... Whenever you are, bro, I hope you can listen to this and like it as much as I do. Hopefully someday we'll have the chance to play together this and more cool games somewhere!

When Soccer Games Had Actual Music [Super Soccer] feat. Ivan Hakstok, jnWake, minusworld

This is the "Abyss of Thor" from Tales of Phantasia. An original arrangement in a somewhat industrial metal style, just me and my synths/samples (no real instruments played, no collabs). That tune plays in what can be considered as the stereotypical ancient civilization with super advanced technology. A longer title I had in mind was "Echoes of Ancient Civilizations, Hopes of Future Societies". I even had some ideas to add news-style speeches using some of the in-game lines when you watch the screen but discarded that in favor of a fully instrumental version and a simpler title.

That source kept me thinking of how online community efforts that eventually stops could be perceived in a distant future, and how important, or at least interesting all what we leave behind can feel like for other people after years or decades. In a certain way culture and knowledge works like that: even if it gets buried it's likely to be eventually discovered and enjoyed. This is the final PRC and I assume all mp3s will be kept in the site. But even if the site and everything inside got drown in the depths of the net, that's a lot of stuff that is likely to be discovered by other people in the future. Music enthusiasts who would keep copies and share elsewhere and other enthusiasts who would discover that and, who knows, maybe be surprised by so much of cool stuff that was done in the past. After all, this is somewhat happening already with other communities of the past like VGMix, some removed OCR tracks, maybe OLremix and lots of artists and the mp3s they had in their old personal sites.

Nothing is likely to be totally lost forever, and even if this is the end for PRC, we all music enthusiasts will have lots of stuff to enjoy forever. Stuff that, very much like other forms of culture and even knowledge, is likely to be passed and shared and enjoyed throughout generations all around time. Isn't that wonderful?

That ancient but super advanced civilization that was once crashed by a comet and drown in the sea was there waiting for our "heroes" to be discovered and their technology used as a hope to travel in time. Who knows, maybe some people in a very distant future will discover all what we had been doing during all this time and be shocked at it. Maybe the mainstream music of the moment will be generally so bad... that thing you are listening here will sound like a masterpiece for them, and the whole site will work as inspiration for a generation of wannabe musicians. Wouldn't that be cool?

Sometimes I think of my music in a slightly similar but a lot less narcissistic way: nowadays my stats (listens, downloads, followers, etc) is a foolish joke. Criticism is often negative and it seems like people generally don't understand my ideas and I just didn't get to find my place or my audience anywhere yet. But maybe in a future some of that stuff will be discovered by some random person of the net in some random corners at the deepest depths of this cyber-world and then getting the proper attention and love? Whether this happens or not, if just one single person enjoys my stuff, even if that's not happening today but 20 years later, I then may feel like it was worth all the time and effort spent. Heck, even if only crickets listen, the simple fact of being able to convert ideas from brain to DAW is already such a fantastic feeling! Let's keep creating stuff unto the ages of ages!

BORING STORY:

I always wanted to ruin that tune whose official title is "Ruined Castle Corridor". It's just too funny to do and call it "I Ruined Ruined Castle Corridor".

This month in the monthy contest of Pixel Mixers the theme is "Michiru Yamane VS Akira Yamaoka" (aka many Castlevanias VS many Silent Hills), and I initially didn't plan to participate because I wanted to rest a bit for awhile. However, I found the inspiration just in the latest days for deadline, and admitedly this theme is the perfect excuse to comply with my plains to ruin that "ruined castle corridor". So, "why not?".

So here's it. Musically I went to a very different direction. The original source having that rocking vibe it may be expected, from a metalhead like me, to go 100% metal with it. However, that's more like some weird, creepy dark pseudo-orchestral thing. No guitars, no metal drums. Just percussions, strings, organs, pianos and weird stuff like that. And chocobo-style vocals, of course!

All is 100% MIDI (except vocals, obviously), and nothing is played live. Production/mix is not great either, but I just focused on having a proper structure done as soon as possible so I can finish and upload quickly and in time for Pixel Mixers. This is just for fun, after all! However, I don't discard the idea of doing a vastly improved version and maybe even inviting musicians to play stuff on it and so make it infinitely better for some album version eventually.

In short; I wanted to keep this project simple for both music and video. It may still have a bunch of embarrassing mistakes, but I think it's decent enough, and it just works to bring some fun and laughs.

Manolo Escobar was a spanish singer of andalusian copla, rumba, pasodoble and other typical spanish styles of the time. This song specifically talks about one of the biggest mysteries in the modern Spain mythology: where is Manolo's "carro" (traction carriage, not car)? Who dared to stole him?

Today, December 28th, also happens to be the spanish equivalent to April Fools, known as "Día de los inocentes", pretty common in spanish speaking countries like Spain and most of Latin America. As soon as I knew about that pranks day I wanted to make something related. The simple idea of such a day in the middle of christmas is just fascinating for me. A day to have fun and laughs, rather than consuming and buying, yay! Isn't cool?

So, to celebrate I just wanted to ruin some spanish song my usual way: with silly chocobo/bird-style vocals replacing melodies. Sure, I could choose a more fitting song. But it was funnier to go into a totally unusual direction and trying a more classic thing. And while not that familiar with old spanish folk stuff, this song my Manolo Escobar was just funny enough to try something.

In terms of arranging this is my usual thing: MIDI low-tuned chungs, cheesy intro, ambiance SFX... No blast beats and no extreme metal elements at all, tho but a more classic mid-tempo epic metal vibe. Just representing Manolo's journey in search of the lost carriage, runinng around the whole world with his chocobo to finally find it close to a castle in the shore.

Now jokes aside, this was done with no more intentions than just having fun. Just nonsensical humor, so I hope nobody feels offended by anything of it, because there's absolutely no ill intentions against anyone or anything. If you happen to know the original song I hope you just have some laughs and enjoy it, which I'd expect to be funnier if you know spanish since I added the original lyrics on sync. If you have no idea who that Manolo is, however... I hope you have some well deserved fun and laughs, too! :)

Para celebrarlo quise destrozar alguna canción española a mi manera: con voces de chocobo/pájaro reemplazando las melodías. Seguro, podría haber elegido una canción más adecuada. Pero me pareció más divertido ir a otra dirección diferente y probar con algo más clásico. Y aunque no familiarizado con el folklore español, esta canción de Manolo Escobar me pareció lo suficientemente divertida para probar algo.

Música y vídeo fueron hechos simplemente por diversión y risas. Es sólo humor sin sentido, espero que nadie se ofenda, pues no hay ninguna intención de ofender nada ni nadie. Si conoces la canción original, espero que tengas unas bien merecidas risas. Si no la conoces... pues espero te divirtas un rato, también :)

En Busca Del Carro Perdido (Manolo Escobar Cover) [Karaoke]

An original synth/MIDI metal song. Inspired by a weird dream I once had involving a door in a rented apartment that led to a mysterious, colorful open world full of fantastic creatures and extravagant, lively vegetation.

Musically it may sound a lot like a videogame soundtrack, but that's more coincidence than intentional, since I simply love music and games and music from games!

All started with a simple harp arpeggio and some basic chords in a rather simple and short tune. I then extended the structure to feel more like a complete song and tried writing some lead melodies that may work as a vocal melody if I eventually dare to write lyrics and even sing (or feature an actual singer). So that flute can be considered as a placeholder.

Didn't care too much about production/mixing because, well, at this point I'm focusing more into the raw ideas and not so much into the more tedious, superficial aspects of music. It's just about having fun! I think it's all listenable enough tho.

Once again moving a bit out of my comfort zone, since it's a kind of metal I'm not used to. Basically it was intended to sound like something from some ancient civilization, like metal in the old Egypt times. Lots of crunchy riffs, ethnic instruments and some simple but catchy melodies as usual.

Nature is a wonderful place to stay in. Unfortunately, some humans are despicable creatures doing nothing but harming everything around them, including the environment and the other animal kinds coexisting with us. If nature could talk, protest and fight back...

This tune somewhat goes into that kind of vibes with a tribal feel and intense emotions. Including some catchy melodies along with the unusual rhythms.

Did you ever get lost in totally unknown territory, far away from human civilization? I did a few times, and while the idea may sound stressful there's also some pleasure on just exploring new mysterious places.

Accompanied by harp as main protagonist along with a bunch of guitars and simple drums, we are now visiting the Mysterious Lands.

And also moving out oy my comfort zone, once again. Some people mentioned a "wild west" vibe, but the actual intention was more into other type of wild. More like wild forests. And black cats, yeah.

Towards the Temple of the Black Cat



A very low-tuned industrial, electronic synth metal piece. Inspired by the depths of the sea, so production and sound may be a bit weird. Full of crunchy, muffled riffs and electronic drums combined with slightly organic elements and ambiance sounds. Nothing too complex at all.

The title is a joke with the famous Deep Purple hit "Smoke on the water" but shares absolutely no similarity with the mentioned track beyond that.

I heard that sentence many times but honestly I don't know who's the author, and a simple web search brings too many varied results with no clear conclusion.

This is also that kind of project that starts as a really small, meaningless thing that somewhat grows deep on us. I just started it as an impulsive moment of inspiration for a simple and straight "Iron Maiden style doubled lead guitars" melody. It was not until more than half a year later that I tried extending these few measures of music into an attempt of a fully-structure song.

I soon noticed that had a somewhat happy and energetic vibe and "what if we go down with the mood for a moment". That's where the idea for the "bardcore?" interlude came, to later gradually go back to power metal. I then felt like this song represents very well my feelings and mood of the moment. Just like life itself, this song has its moments of falling and then rising again at full strength.

Surprise!! We go with a totally different thing again. December 28th is very much the spanish equivalent to April Fools, known as "día de los inocentes" in Spain and most of LATAM. Yes, a day to have fun and laughs instead of buying and wasting money, yay!

Last year I got use of this day to ruin some old classic spanish song. This year we go with another classic but not that old. It's just around... 35 years old? And the band members are still alive!

This is "Héroes del Silencio" a very internationally known spanish rock band, and a song that is so famous, even Till Lindemann (Rammstein's singer) made his own version.

Mine is some kind of epic space synth metal or whatever. Yes, it sounds like MIDI because it's a MIDI arrangement. Vocals, however, are kinda... different.

For the video I used a bunch of graphics ripped from multiple games, mostly shoot 'em ups like Darius and Gradius but also some totally irrelevant games like Tales of Phantasia and Illusion of Gaia.

Nothing in either the music or the video is meant to make sense nor there is any moral lesson or meaning behind. It's just pure nonsense with no more purpose than having fun and hopefully bringing some well deserved laughs. I worked so hard with my recent album and serious music this year... just wanted to try something silly again. I lope you like :)

¡¡Sorpresa!! De nuevo vamos con algo totalmente diferente. 28 de diciembre es el equivalente hispanohablante al "April Fools", conocido como "día de los inocentes" en España y mayor parte de LATAM. Sí, un día para divertirse y hacer bromas, en lugar de para comprar y gastar dinero, ¡yay!

El año pasado aproveché este día para destrozar una vieja y clásica canción española. Esne año vamos con otro clásico pero no tan viejo. Son sólo como... ¿35 años? ¡Y los integrantes de la banda aún estás vivos!

Es sólo humor absurdo sin ningún sentido y sin más intención que divertirse y echarse unas bien merecidas risas. Trabajé tan duro en mi reciente álbum y toda la música seria este año... simplemente quise hacer algo absurdo otra vez. Espero que os guste :)
