I always welcome new music, new connections, new friendships that then come along. In this example, a track premiere by Joachim Spieth at the end of last year made me relisten to his works on Wolfgang Voigt’s  Pop Ambient series, taking me to releases on his very own Affin imprint and finally asking him for a mix. In this process, this seemingly random stranger quickly became a musical friend, as we exchanged grand ideas and connected with music. I really appreciated the spectrum of electronic music genres covered on Spieth’s German label and requested that he showcased the output through a traversal of styles. The result is a beautiful 90-minute journey that will take you from soothing to upbeat, through highs and through lows. I’m very happy with how it turned out and honoured to host this showcase on Headphone Commute.

Clear as spring water, the memory of Shoal's beautiful live set echoing through the Norwegian mountains, finally sharing the stage together at Monument (@monument-podcast) after meeting in Amsterdam several years ago. Those familiar with our dear friends at Harmony Rec (@harmony-rec) will be undoubtedly familiar with Kenny's impeccable body of work, and for the rest an eye-opening treat awaits. Here, Kenny gathers highlights from his recent live sets and newly recorded material, arranged and refined into a perfect contemplation of the crisp arboreal air, a vivid composition of body and sound entwined tightly beneath the earth. Simone Bauer is a 22 year old musician from Terni, a city placed in the center of Italy and surrounded by the mountains. First drummer, he started to get more passionate about electronic music and going to clubs and rave parties in Rome. Techno music striked him immediately because he found it like "it has a way of uniting people who come from completely different worlds and I saw a form of spirituality through dancing it which can bring people in a state of deep meditation sharing the same energy and conscience". Very influenced by the roman scene with artists like Giorgio Gigli, Luigi Tozzi, Feral or Brando Lupi, Simone finds his inspiration while taking distance from the city and staying in nature. Now, he is known in the deep techno scene for his beautiful releases on @norite, @annulled_music and @palmstructure.

This superb mix is a beautiful representation of the aesthetics promulgated by the Italian ambient scene: crystalline sounds combined with hypnotic and dreamy sequences, never too dark, inviting the listener to follow the obvious light expressed by the music, sometimes accompanied by ritual rhythms and percussion reminiscent of techno heat.
