3 QUESTIONS to JOYCE MUNIZ:

Q: Let's talk about your mix and your roots. How did you find your way to Eelectronic Music and what do the tracks in your mix mean to you today?

A: My interest in Electronic Music was actually sparked by MTV. Back in the mid-1990s, MTV was really cool and had great music from artists like Massive Attack, Björk, Aphex Twin, Roni Size, Rage Against The Machine and many more. So music was very important to me from an early age and I heard my way through different genres. At the age of 15 I got interested in parties and raves because all my cousins ​​were older and always told great stories. I was really upset that I wasn't allowed to come with them, but when I turned 16, my mom finally allowed me to go with them. My first rave was a drum & bass / jungle party in what was then known as the Artwork Club in Vienna. It was a cool underground location on the fourth floor of a warehouse. Since that night my life has changed completely. I thought everything was mega, the sound, the bass in my stomach, the energy from the DJs and the people around me, the flickering light. I didn't know any of the numbers the DJs played and still found them so cool that I bought their mixtapes and listened to them all the time. [...] And the mix for HOW I MET THE BASS brings me back to that time, how flashed I was from the bass, what a great time it was. Good memories!

Q: Corona took us all off the grid in March 2020. It's been over a year since then in which we all try to stay afloat. How did you experience the time
and can use it for you?

A: It was a shock at the beginning, of course. But I was able to focus on other things very quickly and spend more time in the studio or develop new projects together with Radio FM4. I've been resident there for a long time and finally had more time to take part in other shows like FM4 Unlimited. I wanted to do professional speaker training through my radio shows for a long time, but the time was never there because of my old lifestyle. Now I'm actually in the second semester and it's a lot of fun! I also spent a lot of time with my family, we have grown apart a lot in recent years and it was important and also a good time to deal with such things. In terms of finance, it is of course a difficult thing, but the crisis made me realize that I can do a lot more than produce my club tracks and play in clubs on weekends. I reinvented myself and today I make music for commercials, films and various art projects. These are things that I have never done before. I was always very much oriented towards music for the clubs, but this way new doors have opened and I am very grateful for that. Still, I can't wait to go on tour again, be around people, play music, travel and visit my friends and family in Brazil again allowed to.

Q: The last time you had a new release on Exploited was "Crystalline". What are you currently working on and what can we expect from you in 2021?

A: Exactly, “Crystalline” came out on Exploited in early February and this track means a lot to me because that was the first tune I made during the first lockdown. I am very happy that “Crystalline” has made so many friends. As I said, I worked a lot in the studio, last week my remix for the great Bossa Nova star Bebel Gilberto came out on Pias. I also made a remix for the talented singer and songwriter from Berlin, Joplyn. In August, dear producer Alinka and I will be collaborating on Permanent Vacation. There should also be another EP on Pets Recordings. But my most important project for 2021 is to finish producing my second album! I'm in the middle of it right now and that takes a lot of time and patience, because this album should tell my musical career and it will be a fine mixture of different tempos and styles. Some cool features will also be there. I'm really looking forward to it when it's finished.

Geboren und aufgewachsen in einer Künstlerfamilie entdeckte @almagold früh ihr Gespür für Kreativität und Klangvielfalt.

Angesteckt von ihrem eigenen Schaffensdrang sollte es nicht die letzte Reise in musikalische Gefilde bleiben. Beeinflusst von Michael Jackson, Prince & Co ALMA. entdeckte Mitte der 90er Jahre die Electro-Dance-Musik für sich. Fasziniert von dieser neuen Welt besuchte sie unzählige Events und Gigs und sollte schon bald als Barkeeperin die besten Raves rocken, und es sollten noch mehr werden.

Neben ihrer größten Liebe, der Musik, spielt auch Mode eine elementare Rolle im Leben von ALMA. Als diplomierte Modejournalistin hat sie schon mehrere Shootings und Musikvideos mit ihrem Stil sublimiert.

Nach einigen trendigen Reisen und Stilberatungen zog es sie zurück auf die Tanzfläche. Clubs wie das legendäre „Kraftwerk“ oder der Green Room des gemütlichen „Flokati“ prägten die begeisterte Miss Dynamic musikalisch. Der Wunsch, eigene Musik zu machen, wurde durch ihre Freunde aus der DJ-Szene geweckt.

Die Begeisterung wuchs und so beschloss sie, ihre Faszination für Musik in die Tat umzusetzen. Mit Disziplin und Beharrlichkeit verstand sie bald, wie man die Decks spielt. Jeder Euro wurde in das schwarze Gold investiert. Mittlerweile besitzt sie eine stattliche und gut sortierte Scheibensammlung.

Ermutigt durch ihre technischen Fähigkeiten und ihr kreatives Wesen sollte ALMA bald die Decks erobern. Mit ihrem eigenen besten harmonischen Stil faszinierte ALMA bei ihrem ersten Auftritt im Garden Club München sowohl Veranstalter als auch Publikum. Sie war Resident-DJ in Münchens aufstrebendem Club „Chaca Chaca“ (seit Mai 2012 geschlossen) und hatte ihre eigene monatliche Nacht namens „GOLDREGEN“ mit nationalen und internationalen Underground-Buchungen.
Seit 2015 ist sie Resident DJ im bekannten Club HARRY KLEIN und hat bis 2016 eine 2-monatige regelmäßige Party in "Die Registratur" mit dem Titel "Ain't No Romance Like Goldance" gemacht.

Ihre erste Veröffentlichung „Fuzzy Dream“ wurde im Frühjahr 2011 bei Lany Records (digital) veröffentlicht. Die zweite „Diving Bell“ erschien im Oktober 2011 bei Beatwax.
Seit Juli 2012 ist sie Mitglied der Berliner Agentur LILA BOOKING.

Drawn back to music, ALMA. became a DJ, earning residencies at Munich’s fast-rising Club "Chaca Chaca" and the well-known "HARRY KLEIN." She hosted her own event, "GOLDREGEN," and started releasing original tracks since 2016.

In the beginning of the 80’s ALMA. was to see the light of the day. Born and raised in a family of artists she discovered early her touch for creativity and the diversity of sound. 
Infected by her own creative urge it was not to be the last journey to musical fields. Influenced by Michael Jackson, Prince & Co Alma discovered the electro dance music in the middle of the 90’s. Fascinated by this new world she went to an innumerable number of events and gigs and was soon to rock the best raves as bartender, with more to come.
Besides her greatest love, the music, also fashion plays an elementary role in Alma’s life. As graduated fashion journalist she has sublimated yet several shootings and music videos with her style.
After some trendy journeys and style councils ALMA. was attracted back to the dance floor. Clubs like the legendary „Kraftwerk“ or the green room of the cosy „Flokati“ shaped the thrilled Miss Dynamic from a musical perspective. The desire to make her own music was started through her friends that were part of the DJ scene.
The enthusiasm grew and so she decided to turn her fascination for music into reality. With discipline and persistence she soon knew how to play the decks. Every Euro was invested in the black gold. Meanwhile the blonde vamp owns a good sized and well assorted collection of discs.
Encouraged by her technical skills and creative being ALMA. soon was to ascend the dj pulpit. With her own best harmonic style Alma fascinated both the organiser and the audience at her first gig at the Garden Club Munich. She was Resident-DJ at Munich’s fast rising Club “Chaca Chaca” (closed since May 2012) and she had her own monthly night called “GOLDREGEN” with national and international underground bookings.
In 2015 she started her Residency at Munich’s well known club HARRY KLEIN. Meanwhile, between 2015 and 2016, she hosted a two month regular party called: “ain’t no romance like goldance” at Munich’s very famous Club “Die Registratur”
In 2016 she changed her so far known DJ-name Alma Gold in ALMA.
Her first release “Fuzzy Dream” has been signed on Lany Records (digital) in Spring 2011. The second “Diving Bell” has been published on Beatwax (vinyl and digital) October 2011.
Since 2016 she was back in the studio! October 2017 the EP „Important Thing“, she produced together with Oana Leca, had it’s release on Enough Music! It includes a dubby RMX from Guido Schneider
