Lady Maru is a Roman now Berlin-based electronic producer and Post Punk musician. She started producing music with an electric guitar, some toy percussions, and a Tascam 4-track recorder. She became quickly active as a noise guitarist and Casio player for post-punk and no wave bands. Her DJ career started in 2003 djing in clubs and underground raves, always trying to combine 2 influences: art-punk and techno. Her actual sound as a producer and as a DJ is mostly based on acid techno with industrial and EBM influences. she recently opened a vinyl label for acid tunes (Acid boiler coalition) and is a Gegen Berlin resident DJ.

The third compilation (of four instalments) in the Various Artists catalogue of Pi Electronics is hitting physical and digital stores around the globe on the 10th of February 2023.

The concept of releasing artists, who performed at π parties (2014-2019) along with musicians who stood close to the label before and during its activity, gathers 18 tracks to the Limitation Compilation.

Music by New York City industrial legend Adam X, Swedish master mind producer Peder Mannerfelt and Irish Techno figure, Eomac (also one half of Lakker) finally takes its place on the label catalogue, along with tracks by the electro side of Italian born producer, Alessandro Adriani and the sound-aesthetic of UK hailing musicians, Slave to Society (formerly AnD ) and Sam KDC.
Berlin artists Alekzandra and Interviews appear with a synth leaning piece, and a hypnotic, broken techno contribution respectively.
You can also meet the sound of Tel Aviv’s finest electro duo TV.OUT on this release, which also includes a rare collaboration track by Ireen Amnes and Gramrcy.
Finally, ‘Limitation’ presents music by Greece affiliated acts of different backgrounds: from the dreamy guitars of Monochromatic Visions and the ambient/drone of Devika, to the broken beats of Zevla and Ønly, as well as the rolling techno of Thanos Hana. Not to mention the textures of noise band Phallucipher, the industrial slo mo techno of Thessaloniki’s, Archaic Intellect, and the noise-techno of label founder, 3.14.

A crossroad of different genres and production styles is offered in the formats of Double Vinyl Sampler, Double CD and digital for this compilation, titled “Limitation”.

For several years now, BitterCaress has been pursuing her own musical path. Coming from a classical music background and after studying the piano at the conservatory for several years in Paris, she discovered techno in Montreal when she moved there in 2014.

Professional raver and techno events’ organizer for a while, she had the chance to broaden her musical culture before going behind the decks at the end of 2018.

Her sharp selection reveals a marked taste for heavy bass and uncompromising beats. Her style is best described as ravy and highly energetic as she draws her inspiration from old school techno, mixing ravy and trancy atmospheres with raw and industrial energies. The artist gets highly creative behind the decks with her openness to other genres and her appetite for risks when comes the time to play unexpected guilty pleasures. BitterCaress definitely knows how to make people dance and will slay any dancefloors.

She is already well-established in the Montreal local scene with several gigs under her belt, notably at Stereo Nightclub, the Society of Arts and Technology [SAT] or Piknic Electronik, and her residency at one of the scene’s most hyped collective, OCTOV. Playing alongside Anetha, Nur Jaber, CARAVEL, AADJA or Jacidorex, among talented others, has definitely put her on the contemporary techno map.

Since the end of 2021, she has also begun to make some waves internationally with several podcasts for many renowned SoundCloud channels such as The Brvtalist, RAW, Fast Forward Productions,
SUBSTANTIV or Instruments of Discipline.

Continuing this momentum, at the end of summer 2022, the artist made her European debut, playing in Paris, Lyon, Madrid, Berlin and London. She also made a remarkable first appearance on the famous Berlin radio, HÖR.

At the same time, since her debut, BitterCaress has been curating the Mixing for a Cause podcast series where she gives the floor to some local and international artists to raise awareness about causes that are meaningful to them.

In the same spirit, since the end of 2020, she is now managing her own project called MFC Records. A label established as a way to support newcomers, fresh talents and already established artists from all over the world who would like to support a cause. All proceeds from the releases are going to carefully chosen non-
for-profit organizations. Through this series and that label, she hopes to build awareness and a better future world.

On her journey as a DJ she encounters various styles of electronic music, especially bouncy hard techno, harsh industrial, deconstructed hypnotic vibes and noisy drone soundscapes. 
Utilizing field recordings and experimental techniques, she explores the boundaries between sound and sex. Her current musical work is focused on a collaborative soundtrack for an interactive audio-visual radio play by morphing field recordings and vocals to fractals and polyrhythmic patterns. With her conceptual project duo Fractal Void, a mixture of electronic and classical composition are blended into artificial landscapes and unsettled futuristic elements. Both projects are intended to be played live.
She is a member of About Repetition e.V., a group of artists dedicated to the research of repetition through artistic means, collaborating with a wide range of other collectives across Europe.
