BRETT is a new label celebrating the co-dependent scenes of techno and contemporary art. 

A sub label of Inland’s Counterchange imprint, each edition will feature music selected by Ed Davenport (Inland / Counterchange), paired with cover art curated by Nils Petersen (Flipping The Coin). 

BRETT is dedicated to the spirit of Berlin’s early club scene, where cross-pollination and spirited discourse between musicians and visual artists etched the blueprints for a new techno-culture.

001 finds co-creator and long-time Berlin ex-pat Inland at the helm, delivering four surging, up-tempo club tools, plus 2 brainwave-activating noise experiments. Celebrated Irish-born artist Mariechen Danz provides a photograph of her visionary sculpture, ‘Statue for Gesticulation’, for the cover artwork. 

The towering super-human structure bears a multitude of nurturing hand gestures suggesting support, comfort and togetherness. Built from roughly textured grey concrete and resembling a technoid, monolithic bunker or industrial space in itself, the loving, humanist symbols of peaceful action mirror the culture of inclusion, love and acceptance practiced on the dance floor.

BBN is a Lithuanian based artist, who's a resident at the iconic Kablys + Club. He has his own label, podcast series, artist agency, and event series at Kablys club. BBN has  played alongside such DJ's as Pablo bozzi, Audrey Danza, Chaos in the CBD and many more. Hes more keen on Progressive house, trance, dark house, electronic, with some electro spices

The Irish head honcho of Mini Man Records is up next, displaying his skills behind the decks with this vinyl-only interpretation of his mantra taking us through Electro, Techno and Acid with some classic tracks from the past and present. He’s been a DJ for the best part of three decades playing in clubs and festivals all over his native Ireland whilst also bringing his bags of records to clubs like Griessmuehle and Razzmatazz. Having held residences with renowned club nights Resistance, Backwards and his own Electric Circus, which is now a monthly Radio show on Pirate Radio station; OpenTempo FM which hosts an array of amazing mixes monthly.

Over the years he’s played support to artists like Jeff Mills, Juan Atkins, Robert
Hood, Dave Clarke, Luke Slater, Ben Sims to the late great Andrew Weatherall.
His music productions have been released on HillTown Disco, Psyko Social
Records, TakeOver Records and his own imprint Mini Man Records (which has gathered acclaim from many of the genre's elite including Slam, Sunil Sharp, Alienata & L.F.T.)

SpunOff is a jungle. Following a lure of transgression and intensity in the musical formation, his Dj performances are cleansed of any Apollonian leftovers; here, one will not find much clarity of form or harmony of construction. SpunOff is a dedicated explorer and experimenter. He is a crazed demiurge of some primordial chaos which strings he pulls together out of a contemporary hysterical, schizophrenic mixture of the genres: techno, trance, jungle, minimal, house, ambient and noise. Such pushing of the boundaries can draw you into a state of cultic madness. Under the SpunOff’s direction, one can handle no more the agitated staring into the horizon of death and darkness. Instead, the whole horizon collapses onto our foreheads, there is no more perspective and no point of reference, only sound, matter and bodies, together in the ecstatic embrace.

Neophyte, for sure, and these are all my newly found treasures, that I have dug up from around the world.  One day I will produce some tracks again, until then, I will spend every minute listening to all the newly found gems!
