For this new record, the producer from The Hague (Netherlands) presents a collection of diverse dance floor cuts channeling a classic raw techno sound. Utilising the OB-6 analog synthesizer as one of the main instruments, he recorded all tracks in one take in order to keep the vibrant energy of the live process.

Stuttgart’s David Löhlein has been involved in electronic music for a number of years and launched his Vision Ekstase event in his hometown of Stuttgart before providing the inaugural release on the newly formed label which picked up support from the likes of Ben Sims, Luke Slater, Efdemin and many more established names within the techno world. David now invites remixes from Mote-Evolver artist Rene Wise, Planet Rhythm producer VIL and Vision Ekstase residents Rove Ranger and Fabian Wegmeth.
Rene Wise’s remix of ‘Altai’ is a rolling techno shaker featuring revolving percussion, shimmering bass grooves and the hypnotic vocal from the original floating above before Rove Ranger’s Gothic remix deploys sharp hitting drums, fierce modulated tones and haunting leads underneath.
On the flip, VIL’s ‘Red Code’ remix makes way for vibrant, clap-heavy rhythms, driving modulations and resounding frequencies keeping the energy flowing while Fabian Wegmeth’s remix rounds things off with industrial sounding sonics peppered with machine-like synth whirls, menacing oscillations and shrieking soundscapes throughout.

While we watched the current events unfold in the USA, we have been feeling pretty helpless, we wanted to speak sooner but we felt we wanted to take action rather than adding more words. We are sickened by the way individuals have lost their lives over the years at the hand of disgusting police brutality, most recently with George Floyd. But this all stems from systematic racism that generations have suffered. Some of us can’t really begin to know the true extent of how this has impacted millions of human beings over hundreds of years and while we know this may not amount to a huge donation... We believe that now is the time for change, we want to make a move towards this, even if it simply helps raise more awareness amongst our own circles.

Prodigal Son artists & friends have worked together over the past few days to make a compilation of which all proceeds will be donated to NAACP.org who are leading the fight for change in the United States, we know this is a global issue and will like to support everywhere but we have to focus on one movement at a time. We would like to thank Bandcamp for highlighting this as an important organisation to direct the funding to, as they recently announced plans to make considerable donations.

We got the first taste of Yant aka Andrew Tomlinson’s production prowess with the transcendent ‘Cosmic Borders’ EP in late 2018. Clarke had originally planned to keep Blackaxon purely as an outlet
for his studio creations, but the quality of Yant’s work convinced him otherwise. The Hydro EP is an iridescent expression of Yant’s musical sensibilities. 

‘Hydro 1’ provides driving rhythms from the off, before a heady concoction of synths and a lead siren drive the production home. ‘Hydro 2’ is a dark pumper, reminiscent of earlier Blackaxon releases. It builds gradually, heavy on mood, before a propulsion of drums raises the energy to another level. A highlight of Clarke’s set
going back months, ‘Hydro 3’ is a delicious synapse-searer, marked by swirling synths and Yant’s trademark groove. ‘Hydro 4’ is a textured, low-slung chugger, imbued with thrashing dancefloor attitude and a glint of euphoria.
