Aujourd’hui, je la sors de son cocon,

Les Papillons…
Ils me fascinent.
De la chenille fragile et prisonnière,
Émerge un être libre,
Qui craque sa chrysalide,
Déploie ses ailes et s’envole.

Leur vie est brève, à peine 15 jours,
De l’œuf à la lumière,
Un parallèle troublant,
Avec nos existences fragiles et fugaces.
Nous aussi,
Nous sommes des Papillons.

A fragment of thought, a sketch of emotion.
Today, I release it from its cocoon,

Butterflies…
They fascinate me.
From a fragile, imprisoned caterpillar,
Emerges a free being,
Breaking its chrysalis,
Unfurling its wings, and taking flight.

Their lives are brief, barely 15 days,
From egg to light,
A troubling parallel,
With our fragile, fleeting existences.
We too,
Are butterflies.

Break the Rules (2005) - Rock music without guitars
Break the Rules was one of my first attempts at writing a rock song. The main riff came quickly, and it stuck in my head for days. Catchy, punchy, and full of pop punk energy. All it needed was some electric guitars, but I was not a guitarist and did not know any. So I built the whole part myself, using Soundfonts and stacking effect pedals. The result is strange, raw and synthetic. Sometimes I still think about how it would feel to play that riff on a real guitar, but maybe that’s not what the song needs. After all, this song is about breaking the rules, so that’s what I’m doing here.
