There was a problem with the recorder that caused a second-long dropout in the left channel every 20 seconds. I did a manual fix by copying over the audio from the right channel to fill the gaps; IMO it's almost unnoticeable, unless you're listening for it. I also did a more elaborate fix that papers over those moments, BUT the mix ended up losing some dynamics and stereo separation. I prefer the one uploaded here, but if you find the glitches too distracting, you can download the other version from the link below.

The Sundown Tapes is a summer series of mixes curated by Argo inspired by summer and the iconic legacy of José Padilla at Café Del Mar in Ibiza. Each volume brings together a musical artist who is invited to create their own version of a "sunset mix" - music for that moment when the light softens and the world slows down. 

The sounds explored drift through balaeric ambience, house, electronic, rap, brazillian funk, and more -- shaped by each artist's personal response to the magic of sundown. 

The first 30 minutes of the mix comes from innerinnerlife.

innerinnerlife is the solo indie ambient project of tomasz szpaderski – producer, composer and co-founder of the influential polish electronic group kamp!.
his music is deeply grounded in human experience, with a focus on amplifying the casual beauty of everyday life.

innerinnerlife produces a wide variety of sounds based on smooth ambient textures and harsh, reamped vocals and guitars. his song structures, often processed beyond recognition, create a compromise between dream pop and ambient. meanwhile his lyrics speak with a sweet, nostalgia-driven acceptance of the daily reality.

This is one of the more schizophrenic mixes I've ever recorded, but that's appropriate, I suppose, given the subject matter. The introduction comes from the 1972 film adaptation of Alvin Toffler's book Future Shock, narrated by Orson Welles. I actually watched the film when I was still in grade school—just 12 or 13 years old, as I recall. I suppose some well-meaning teacher wanted to teach us to think critically about media and technology, but at that age, I remember feeling only baffled. Today, the film (which you can watch on YouTube, appropriately enough)feels both comically dated and woefully prescient. That collision of sensations dictated the overall shape of the mix, which leans heavily on broken-down techno and tangled retro-futurism. Instead of the streamlined designs and elegant circuitry that electronic music has supposedly promised, this mix is all about shuddering gears and time out of joint.

The majority of it was mixed with vinyl, using two Technics 1210s and an Allen &amp; Heath mixer; the final two tracks, along with additional passages taken from the film, were added in Ableton at the end. Ironically, as difficult as mixing some of the tracks proved, figuring out how to close it all out was infinitely harder. Just like the film says, "Every day we're bombarded by choices, we need to make instant decisions, we're in endless combat with our own environment 
with all its pace and variety, its choice and over-choice."
