Having James Shinra back on AF is always a cause for celebration, and doubly so this time because we present 'Meteorites’, his second album following the highly acclaimed Vital Heat (2018). During 2023-24, James uploaded a series of digital releases called 'Meteorites’, a set of dreamy and introspective tracks where the artist showed his evolution and maturity, refining the emotive sound that's his trademark and has garnered so much praise in recent years. We should do justice to that material, giving it a worthy treatment/format, so we decided to release all together. James has revisited and reworked many of the tracks for the occasion, polishing, adding, removing… and the result is 'Meteorites', the album. A MUST for all braindance sensibilities and nonconformist electronic  heads. We're sure it will remind you exactly why you loved this talented guy for so long and why he's one of the most uncompromising artists working in electronic music these days.

Striding into the twentieth entry in our humble mix series, we're beyond honoured to host the mighty @unspecified-enemies with an hour-long masterclass of machine funk that lays out some of the dancefloor influences behind the recent Romance In The Age Of Adaptive Feedback EP on @nmbrs .

Detroit fiends take heed for there's plenty of Motor City heat contained within, but also jungle magic from Source Direct, modernist dubwise abstraction from Topdown Dialectic and blown out ambience from Seefeel.

LA-based record label StrataSonic tighten their grip on the underground with 'Everything Liquid', a shape-shifting EP from the eponymous duo that slides into the bloodstream like chrome in warm water...For the premiere, we select the dub version of ‘No Signal’ - a spectral, syncopated séance opening with airy vocal fragments and pillow-soft synth drift. Here, Everything Liquid peels back the skin of the original to expose a micro-funk nervous system: stuttering, glitched-out but elegantly alive. A ceremonial rinse of warm analog textures and bubbling synthetics, this one’s custom-built for those heady, between-time club moments where gravity loosens and limbs float.

Maltese producer Rebecca Theuma’s project That bb gets a makeover from Yetsuby Manda, one of half of salamanda’s solo project on Wrong Island communications.

There once was a creature called That BB, Who lived on the shores of Wrong Island, you see.
“I Wish I Had Something To Say But I Don’t,” Was the phrase that this creature would constantly flaunt.

The Yetsuby came with remixes so strange, While Wrong Island Communication deranged
All the messages sent by the creatures around,  Resulting in quite an peculiar sound.


 
“Oh fiddle-dee-fumble!” That BB would cry,  As it danced ‘neath the purple-green spots in the sky.
“My Communication is terribly wrong, I can’t seem to finish this nonsensical song!”

So they pranced and they prangled through dew-dabbled dawn, With Communication so curiously drawn.
That BB and Yetsuby on Wrong Island stayed, In gloriously gibberish games that they played.

We’re premiering Yetsuby’s remix of “I Wish I Had Something To Say But I Don’t” from Maltese producer Rebecca Theuma’s project That bb. The track comes from her upcoming EP “The Words Are Stuck In My Throat” on Wrong Island Communications, with Yetsuby (one half of Korean act Salamanda) maintaining the dreamlike original but transforming it into a skittering, drum-laden, handclap madness, wig out. One for the sunrise methinks, whether that’s the end of a very long night or the start of a beautiful new day.

“I wrote these songs while going through a prolonged writer’s block. I had moved to another country and found myself feeling very alone and lost,” explains Theuma. “At this particular point in my life, sounds were better at explaining my inner landscape than words.”

The EP will be released on the ACE Scottish-born, now Lisbon-based label Wrong Island, with artwork by Polish artist Jo Sekieta.

Berlin-based producer Igadi dives below the subterranean with his remix of ‘L.O.V.E’ by New York’s spectral voice-sculptor Soho Rezanejad, reimagining the original as a techno liturgy for crumbling cathedrals...His remix unravels like a stroboscopic dream where metallic 4/4 pulses heave below vaporous FX, while Rezanejad’s voice, fractured and luminous, floats above the storm like a siren at the edge of the horizon. It’s dance music for a planet spinning out of sync where dubby reverb chambers meet synthetic plains, and each drop threatens to tear a steel-made floor open.

Dublin-based producer Conor Reilly, better known as Conor CC, inaugurates his own imprnt Origin CC with a high-octane debut single titled ‘Hidden Allure’...Clocking in at a brisk 130 BPM, ‘Hidden Allure’ carefully layers gauzy pads over hyper-stratified percussion, threading polyrhythms through syncopated vocal phantoms and bass-heavy convulsions. 'Hidden Allure' sits between the heady euphoria of peak-hour memory and the introspective murk of pre-dawn reverie.
