I believe anger is one of the holiest, most transformational emotions people don't want to face. It's full of useful information. It's fertilizer for healing and it can make us sick when we don't face it.&nbsp; Dealing with anger in healthy ways is about using it to catalyze change, healing, and/or transformation. In this episode, I dig into how and why anger is holy and sacred. I spend some time destigmatizing anger and looking at why we think anger is bad and how it doesn't have to be. I name some of the unhealthy ways we deal with anger for the purpose of contrast and ownership. Is prayer part of your daily practice? So many of us grew up with a dogmatic, rigid idea of prayer. We sat through church services, repeating words we didn’t truly understand the meanings of. Christopher Rivas is a multi-talented, multi-dimensional writer, speaker, and storyteller to name just a few of his skills. &nbsp; If you've never heard of Anita Moorjani before, she is an extraordinary woman with an incredible story and treasure trove of wisdom to share. In 2006, she died of cancer. You read that right. She came back and now shares the story openly of what happened "on the other side" through speaking engagements and books. Back in 2014 I listened to her first book, "Dying To Be Me" and it had a deep impact on me. So much so that when I started reading her second book, "What if this is Heaven?" a few months ago, and had the thought, "I would LOVE to interview her!" I actually felt a bit intimidated. It was a real honor to spend an hour with Anita and get to reflect more intimately on her experience of living since dying. We talked about the difference between human love and unconditional love. She shared how over-giving, over-functioning, guilt and fear contributed to her excruciating four-year cancer experience. We talked about what it was like returning to her body, how she works with her inner guidance now, and why this earth experience is necessary. And I especially appreciated her exploration of "health awareness," as often (not always), what is being called "healthcare" is more like "illness scare." Today's topic addresses something I get asked about a lot and it was top of mind for me as I just spent a week visiting my family on the East Coast. For me it was the most fun and enjoyable visit I've had with them since I moved out of my parents' home after college and more significantly, decided to leave the religion I was raised in, and decided to pursue a very different and non-traditional path both personally and professionally. All of this has required some real healing, adjusting and re-orienting of things. That's what I'm focusing on in today's Sermon. I also want to add that we recently surveyed our audience and one question I asked was if people listen to the sermons, and then why or why not. Many people who said no mentioned being triggered by the word Sermon - which makes sense. She’s been a teacher, leader, speaker, coach and trainer to groups and individuals for 15+ years in three different industries.
Elizabeth works with women internationally through her digital programs and speaking engagements and more intimately through in-person intensives, retreats, workshops, Wild Soul Movement™ teacher training, and occasional one-on-one engagements. Her greatest mission in this life is to help those who identify as women worldwide to reclaim and redefine their own womanhood, and contribute to a new paradigm of culture where it is both safe and natural for women to love, trust, and accept themselves fully.
In 2013, Shape Magazine listed her alongside Dr Oz, Ellen, Jillian Michaels, Tim Ferriss and more as a Top 30 Motivator. She has written for and been featured in Marie Claire, New York Magazine, SELF, Shape, The Huffington Post, US News and Health Report, Yahoo! News and many more. Before developing the current work she does with women, Elizabeth was a nationally-ranked Sales Rep and District Manager for Vector Marketing (with over $1 million in sales to her credit), a certified personal trainer, group exercise instructor and nutrition coach. She’s a Reiki Master, has completed Energy Mastery trainings with Energetic Solutions, and is an avid student of many spiritual traditions and sacred lineages.
Aside from being a prolific creator and community builder, she’s an insatiable learner and a sensualist who loves spas, bathtubs, dancing (especially salsa!), reading, traveling, spending time in nature, and she has a laugh that has been described as, “a sound bath of sunshine and JOY.”
