I believe anger is one of the holiest, most transformational emotions people don't want to face. It's full of useful information. It's fertilizer for healing and it can make us sick when we don't face it.&nbsp; Dealing with anger in healthy ways is about using it to catalyze change, healing, and/or transformation. In this episode, I dig into how and why anger is holy and sacred. I spend some time destigmatizing anger and looking at why we think anger is bad and how it doesn't have to be. I name some of the unhealthy ways we deal with anger for the purpose of contrast and ownership. Is prayer part of your daily practice? So many of us grew up with a dogmatic, rigid idea of prayer. We sat through church services, repeating words we didn’t truly understand the meanings of. But over the past ten years, I’ve discovered that prayer is fluid and entirely unique to each and every person who practices it. Others of us grew up with no relationship to prayer at all. Ep 378: How to Pray Develop Your Prayer Practice

After spending most of my life exploring my sexuality through the lens of monogamy, I discovered a surprising truth about myself: I don’t actually want one romantic partner. This revelation led me to a new way of looking at my relationships and opened the door for me to finally explore non-monogamy. I spent the last several months, which I dubbed my Sacred Slut Summer, intentionally exploring non-monogamy and how my intimate, romantic relationships can be sacred and fulfilling without being exclusive. Choosing to explore love and intimacy through open relationships is a culmination of all my previous romantic experiences, and while some of those were better than others, each experience led me on this path to accepting the kind of love I find so much more satisfying - at least for now! It’s also offered me a new opportunity to explore the kind of transparency and discernment that non-monogamy requires, and allowed me to lean into my interactions with the Divine and my self-love framework as I accept this new revelation in my romantic life. Since recording  where I introduced my ‘Sacred Slut Summer’ experiment, I’ve discovered that I'm loving the intimacy, connection, and companionship that's available in the solo polyamorous lifestyle.&nbsp; &nbsp; From my early 20s to early 30s, I was essentially a serial monogamist. After taking about a year and a half to deeply reconnect with myself and heal after my last long-term partnership, I realized that I love dating, but not necessarily with the intention of merging my life with someone else’s. &nbsp; In this episode, I describe how nourishing it’s been to create what I call a “constellation of companions” and highlight what I’m currently navigating. Today I’m sharing some things that make me sad and that I tend to be grieving on a pretty regular basis. As a person who embodies a lot of joy, passion, fire, and humor, I don't know if people realize that I grieve all the time. And I bet some of you can relate to this ー much of what makes me sad or has me grieve comes from systemic oppression and the myriad of delusions humans live under that cause us to do harm to ourselves and each other.&nbsp; In this episode, I share two recent experiences that reminded me of how these systems can show up in our daily lives, sometimes in really sneaky ways that are hard to detect. As Valentine's Day 2016 approaches the topic of love is on a lot of people's radars so it felt appropriate to do a podcast this week about the most important love of your life - your self-love. For almost this whole year, something has been bugging me about the tagline you've probably heard me use many different times, "Get out of your head and into your body." There are two implications that weren't sitting well with me: 1) That head and body are separate...hello! The head is attached to the body :) 2) That being in your body is "better than" being in your head. So much of what we do here is about INTEGRATING mind, body, and soul, and FULLY ACCEPTING every single part of yourself. That said, we'll be changing up our languaging around this and bringing light to how beautiful the mind actually is - especially, when you're putting practices into place to leverage it by connecting with your body and soul, too and that's what today's conscious rant is all about. EP112: Conscious Rant: Mind-Body Mastery - What to Do With All That Time You Spend in Your Head

In Feb 2015, I did a 5-day symposium consisting of 25 interviews with powerful and inspiring women sharing their stories and advice for transcending life’s struggles, fears and doing it their own way. We got so much incredible feedback on the interviews, we decided to turn it into a podcast. At times during the interviews when you hear us refer to the series or interviews that have already been done, keep in mind these interviews have been repurposed and may not follow the original order – but stay tuned because we’ll be airing four each month on Mondays alternating with fresh new episodes called “Ask Liz” every Wednesday. 

Fun story about today's podcast. When I was doing this first series of interviews, I had Tosha scheduled on a weekday morning at 9am. We were trying to connect on Skype but something was up with her computer and she couldn't get the camera to work. Knowing she lives in the Bay Area and that I was heading up there that coming weekend, I threw it out there to see if she was available to do the interview in person - and that's what we ended up doing! Was so cool to meet her and get to spend some time together in addition to doing the interview. Her book Outrageous Openness is one of those that I flip back through every now and again when I want to reconnect with myself and remember how easy it is to access the divinity within me.

EP194: Sunday Sermon #7: How does ONENESS actually work?

Today's topic addresses something I get asked about a lot and it was top of mind for me as I just spent a week visiting my family on the East Coast. For me it was the most fun and enjoyable visit I've had with them since I moved out of my parents' home after college and more significantly, decided to leave the religion I was raised in, and decided to pursue a very different and non-traditional path both personally and professionally. All of this has required some real healing, adjusting and re-orienting of things. That's what I'm focusing on in today's Sermon. I also want to add that we recently surveyed our audience and one question I asked was if people listen to the sermons, and then why or why not. Many people who said no mentioned being triggered by the word Sermon - which makes sense. So I want to remind you all that everything I do and create is centered around the belief that everything you’ve ever needed has always been inside of YOU - and even these sermons are for that purpose. To spark your own truth, power, wisdom, and right action. Sometimes they’ll land for you, other times they won’t. Always trust your own discernment. EP217: How To Stop Feeling Like Sh*T with Andrea Owen

Today's episode goes deep into unhealthy relationship patterns, abuse and victimhood. What I loved about our guest Avery Neal, is her whip smart, compassionate and gentle demeanor while navigating an intense topic. Her truth was about the resilience of the human spirit. From there we explored: -Big hard words - abuse and victim - and why it's important to use them, unpack them and own them when applicable -Striking a balance between sussing out your partner's issues and your own issues -Behavioral patterns of abusers and how to spot the warning signs -Behavioral patterns of "victims" or those susceptible to abusive partnerships -Lots of examples from her practice and more gems from her book. EP278: A Conversation About Men With Robert Kandell

I met today's guest, Shivani Hawkins at an event about decentering whiteness in yoga and mindfulness spaces. I was touched by her deep connection to and reverence for her Hindu lineage, as well as her depth of practice, understanding, knowledge and philosophy. We live in an age when it's easy to take pieces of all sorts of teachings, so to be around someone who has gone so deep with one, is a beautiful thing. &nbsp; Her big truth was about how everything comes down to the art of seeing. From there we got into practicing self-inquiry without shame, the difference between shaming and holding people accountable, and how shame is not inherent in truth. &nbsp; We also discussed how harm occurs as the result of a lack of self-inquiry because the choices we make that are not examined can only go the way of our conditioning. &nbsp; We talked about the difference between meditation and visualization, and my favorite part of the conversation was about the difference between seeing, listening and hearing. &nbsp; I hope you enjoy this one as much as I did.
