A passage towards dissolution and rebirth. “Ab Khet”, DRKDCTN's new EP, represents a transition point, a state of mutation where sound becomes a force that molds and destroys, stripping matter of its original form to give it a new existence. Inspired by transformation through chaos and regeneration from the shadow, this work stands as a manifesto of evolution through sonic impact, exploring the boundaries between aggression, density and total immersion on the dance floor.

It is a construction that defies stability, a balance between the relentless and the hypnotic. Tribal and mechanical rhythms, harsh and distorted synths, dense textures like eroded layers of time intertwine in a soundscape where time fragments and space contracts. The percussions are imposing, with sharp, dry beats that resonate like echoes of a ritualistic machinery in constant motion, while deep, crushing basses form the core of the journey, generating an unwavering tension that propels the body into an inevitable trance.

The essence of “Ab Khet” lies in its ability to represent a process of purification through sound. Like a fire that consumes the form to reveal the essence, this EP proposes a journey where aggressiveness and darkness not only destroy, but also generate new states of perception. Each percussion is a mark on the skin of time, each sub-bass is a beat in the abyss.

“Ab Khet” is an exploration in which music ceases to be a mere set of frequencies and becomes a ritual of transformation, an echo of forgotten cycles, of cosmic collisions and invisible mutations. A sound that tears, reconstructs and drags the listener into a state where the only constant is evolution.

After we were already blown away by db-Maui’s first Broque EP, he’s now outdoing himself with ‘From PM to AM’. The new EP is just as versatile as ‘Die Sterne und das Unicorn’, while combining very different influences to create a representative tour through the dynamics of a good club night. This calls for functional dancefloor compatibility but also gives plenty of space for blissful hands-in-the-air moments. ‘This Feeling’ is the poppy centrepiece of the EP, which immediately embraces you with its catchy hook and warm vocals, and in terms of crossover appeal, is on a par with the likes of Caribou and Daft Punk. The Midnight Remix has a more masculine sound that heads straight for the dancefloor and focuses on the essence of the track, while the more percussive Late Night Remix beams you right into the peaktime hours. The opener ‘Low Sin’ also combines catchy hooks with a highly functional club sound, while ‘Your Smile’ sends you into the after hours with warm deepness over focused and percussive beats. This EP has everything one expects of a good night at the club plus a good portion of radio appeal for the time in between the weekends.
