The last track on our compilation was produced by Dresden based DJ, producer and artist @shannon_soundquist. It is about a brief encounter with a hidden narcissist and the efforts to get over it. At the beginning, there are great feelings and fantastic castles in the air of a possible joint development, which, however, with all their straightforwardness, already carry dissonances and arrhythmias. The noise-rise does not develop into the fulfilling drop, letting its energy seep away in a premature termination. There is no fulfillment in this track. Instead, there are painful sounds and screams that have been ground into unsettling pads with delays. And again and again unsatisfying aborts, just as the covert narcissist has broken off contact. Individual electronic sounds sting away. There is no progression within the beats, which stomp along, they just stop at some point and lead to nothing but a new break-off instead of the ecstasy of an endless dance. The track is part of a conceptual work that includes the artist's book "Durchs Jahr mit einer verdeckten Narzisse" („Through The Year With a Covert Narcissist/Daffodil“).

UNUSUAL SUSPECTS aims to support and emphasize the existence of smaller, local-scene figures, who are working towards alternative solutions and with creative processes that have not yet been influenced by the expectations of huge labels, fans and all that comes with recognition. We do not want to exclude any genres or limit ourselves to any specific moods, speeds or any other criteria. We aim to stay open to all ideas and hope to present music that is dependent on our own feelings towards it and not the common expectations. We are both DJs and members of various collectives, in which people play music completely different than our own and this has taught us to stay open for a variety of sounds and now we would like to transfer this candour to our work within the frames of our label.
