I loved making this track, It should seemingly fell together and seemed to work. The album artwork is of me when I was travelling around French Polynesia in 2005 - It is on a remote island next to Tahiti called Moorea. It was a lovely place, perfect for a Holiday!

3 QUESTIONS to GROJ:

Q: Talking about your roots. A lot of german Synthi-Pop/New Wave tracks are inside your mix. How did you get in touch with this kind of music and how would you describe your roots?

A: Thanks for having me on this project, great concept and I loved to work on it. These are big names in my family - Kosmische Musik was always around the house and readily inculcated to anyone flipping through album covers in the living room. But children rarely like the music their parents listen to and why would these names stand out from all of the musical action of the 70-80 and 90s? My attachment is conceptual. I think German Rock had it's own mission and a different vision than what was happening at the time elsewhere. It isn’t too pushy or too snob and still very elegant and refined. The music is grounded in a feeling of home and belonging, of being back at the castle. At the same time it is very transporting, rhythmic subtleties and repetition is central to it. I learnt a lot about making techno from these guys and I’m sure I’m not the only one.

Q: You´re from Grenoble, living now in Montreal/Canada (is that right?). How would you describe your development in electronic music between Europe and North America?

A: That is correct. I go back and forth a lot. I love Montreal and where I come from in France. I think both continents feed off each other. While there has always been some strong artistic rivalries and misunderstandings in the past, I think both schools hold a lot of admiration for one another. Being in Montreal is great because there is a flow from both sides and you don’t need to pick a side. I think this comes through in my music as well - I try to be free-spirited, raw and open to serendipity like a North-American, and at the same time I see the value in not pissing on everything that has been done before, in preserving heritage and order like a good European artist. So the course of my development as an artist in a sense is also to unite and re-concile these two worlds.

Q: Which future Groj projects are on the way?

A: At the moment I’m working on an album, which is something I haven’t done for several years now. It is both a great and terrifying feeling. There will soon be a single release on microCastle which is a club cover I made of Transmission by Joy Division. A new EP on fryhide is coming soon as well.

During this tricky time that has affected everyone on a global scale, we are lucky the music does not stop and keeps us united despite being so far apart. Who else but to have the fabulous duo @Pandhora raise our spirits and bring positive vibes while a majority of us are confined to staying at home. This exquisite live session  is just perfect to start off our week. With their infamous guitar and keyboard talents they bring us over an hour of electronic grooves infused with colourful sounds and progressive melodies.

Based inbetween Montpellier and Istanbul they have been travelling the globe and releasing dope productions on renown labels such as our friends Pipe & Pochet or Art Vibes. Constantly looking to bring new sounds into their music it is a real treat to have them share this wicked live set on the channel.

I’m very happy to have been a part of this group this year, from HomeBurn, to eCompression, to Burning Man 2020. I will definitely like to build on the relationships, be it in the virtual world, or in the flesh in the years to come.
