Pinkman records presents Five Years of Tears: A string of releases dedicated to celebrating the 5th birth year of the label. The first volume features contributions by 3 of the labels usual suspects, as well as newcomer Randstad. Ernestas Sadau's powerful, raw and menacing cut starts sets the scene for Alessandro Parisi to delve deep into his synthesizer toolkit. What comes out is a highly emotional production, infused with sirens and melodies that may cause tearful mourning on the dancefloors. On the B side Identified Patient provides yet another one of his notoriously slow and filthy underground creepers, while Randstad delivers another burst of energy that celebrates raw percussion, gloomy pads and haunting vocal samples.

When we started The Bunker New York label in 2014 there was a short list of artists whose music we knew that we wanted to get out into the world. Lori Napoleon, aka Antenes, was high up on that list, although at the time the Brooklyn-based Chicago native had yet to release her recorded music at all. Five years on, after acclaimed records on L.I.E.S. and Silent Season, residencies at Issue Project Room and Bell Labs plus a busy global touring schedule as both a DJ and live performer, we are proud and excited to present Lori’s Ante Meridiem EP under her Antemeridian production moniker. She tells us that the Antemeridian project is a special outlet for her more melodic synthesizer compositions and the name Antemeridian refers to “morning light and the meridian lines of the planet, the view you would have from above if you were already in the sky/space/seeing the atmosphere also from a great distance.”

With this EP, Antemeridian has created nothing less than a masterwork of synthesis comprising unique soundscapes unbelievably detailed and crisp. We asked Lori to tell us a bit about her production techniques, which include home-built machines from unorthodox source materials including vintage switchboards and telecommunications equipment. She actually built her first synthesizer out of an antique telephone switchboard we donated to her from The Bunker HQ! “I use a combination of synths and controllers/sequencers that I’ve made along with commercially available/ bought or modded analog synths and field recordings that have gone through a number of effects chains. There may be a crackling sound that emerged from the modular which made me think about a flame sparking and burning out, recalling a very organic process in nature - but in a composition it’s a drum element. Perhaps the sense of detail comes from how I work on finding sounds before arranging them in a track so when I find one with little nuances and textures, then I'll be inspired to compose with it. Visceral sounds are very important to me, and sounds that you may not instantly identify with this or that synth model – which is why I like the idea of designing my own palette for portions of tracks.”

Iron Sight’s music crosses territory between dystopian sci-fi futurism and biblical eschatology, perhaps the same event, the end of the Uroburos’ tail; mechanical percussion hits anchor drones that evoke Albrecht Durer’s vision of The Four Horsemen, bristling synths audibly resemble locust drones descending upon rotting fields, a voice made from barbed wire emerges from a storm of reverb. 

This record, as the title suggests focuses on the trauma of a broken heart, bodies longed for are dissected and reconstructed, the minimal composition of the tracks allows cinematic spaces to unfold, constructing the scaffolding for a descent into obsession, mania and the annihilation of memory.

For the next premiere we look to a relatively new Russian label @PropagandaMoscow for their second EP for the "Code" series.
 
The "Code" series, which specializes in the sound of Electro, represents the vision of two significant figures in the Electro community. Side A is Ekman (@roeldijcks) and side B is @Obergman. The second release is characterized by a more raw and dystopian Electro sound with synth-pop overtones.

For Ekman, this release is the nineteenth in his discography. This Dutch musician is a resident of the @kemal187, @Solar_One_Music, @Shipwrec and @Abstract_Forms. Obergman is a Swedish producer, whose discography includes releases from such labels as famous @brokntoys, @Borft Records and Abstract Forms. 

The track selected by @DVSNME to premiere for @DarkScienceElectro is entitled 'The Synth Who Sleeps'. It stays true to form for Ekman utilizing minimal beats and focuses on creating a haunted vibe with pulsing basslines and creepy synth work.

Chapter One, Decade is the newest sonic story in the library of Strange Therapy, written and told by Iron Sight. Five heart piercing personal pieces, jam-packed with loud passion.

'Years' opens the heavily creaking doors to a time traveling hallway. The symphonic string walls are decorated with distant memories. They shake and quake with every uttered word. Each striking syllable creates a crack in the ground. 'Hide' exploits those cracks for a full on excavation. Barrages of screeching metal pierce the porous earth while a violent voice blasts away large chunks of cold hard earth. The rocks are sent flying sky-high through the eerie atmosphere. 'Blades' sounds even more explosive, with its gut-punching drums. The voice now roars through the swarming synthetic sounds of poisonous hornets. Screaming and soaring, it channels horror in every square inch of air.

'Weekend' doesn't let anything escape the suffocating tight embrace between the powers of desperation, destruction and creation. Mechanical pumps draw from a pool of raw emotion, bubbling and overflowing. 'Echo' is the last dive and the final splash in this pool. Drops fly high, refracting the twilight of frequencies before they bounce off against natural forces. Falling back down as piano sounds they make ripples, causing a moving reflection.

Produced in a symbiosis of perfectly unaligned and uncalibrated modular 
synthesis, “Thirst” is Diasiva pushing current DSP technology to its edges, their sound is informed by a weekly meeting of sonic experimentation and exploration in their Neukölln studio, drawing inspiration from the detritus of West Berlin. “Thirst” represents the ongoing evolution of Diasiva from sledge-hammer logic into expression in motion, welding IDM & deconstructed breaks to pure sonic abstraction, embracing visions of a brighter future yet leading curious eyes toward the ever present darkness, holding the hand of the likeminded, marching together toward the abyss. 

Diasiva are Monolog and Swarm Intelligence, formed in 2011 for the first edition of Burn The Machine Festival in Subland, Berlin, playing numerous live sets around Berlin after this, including the following Burn the Machine. In 2016, they released their debut LP “Doublefade” on the seminal Ohm Resistance label, later that year, they released “Sabo” on Monolog & Subtrakt imprint, 2017 saw their Station 1805 EP released on Acroplane. The duo now returns for their debut EP on Instruments of Discipline.
