Linkin Park and Chester Bennington have held a special place in my heart since I was 10 years old. I remember going into Sam Goody and buying Hybrid Theory when I was in 5th grade. I have probably listened to that album from start to finish over 100 times. I know every word to every song. In High School, I went to see Linkin Park at the Staples Center. Chester had the most incredible stage presence of any frontman I have ever seen in my life. He sounded even better live then he did on the record. To this day, Linkin Park at the Staples Center is still the most memorable concert I have been to. When I heard about Chester's suicide, I felt very lost. No celebrity death has ever affected me the way that his death has. I didn't know what to do, I didn't know how to process the loss I was feeling for this man that I had never actually met. But that's the thing about Chester. Even though you've never met him IRL, you feel like you truly know him and have a real connection with him because he has always been so open and honest in his music. You can tell that every song comes from a real place deep within his soul. Writing lyrics was a form of therapy for Chester, and listening to his music was a form of therapy for all of us. He let us know that we weren't alone. That there were others out there going through the same shit. Chester has done so much for me, he's always been there for me in my times of depression, angst, and anger. He's helped me to keep fighting and to keep pushing on through when things get heavy. For all he's done for me, I wanted to pay my respects and honor him in the best way I could: through music. So, after many days and many tears, here's my remix of Shadow Of The Day by Linkin Park. Dedicated to the memory of Chester Bennington. I hope you have finally found some peace my brother ❤️
