UC016 // To kick off the year, here's a longer mix from someone who has been on the radar for a little while - a dynamic & multidisciplinary producer with a flair for tasteful vocals & dub adjacent selections, CHEAHDX [ @cheahdx ]

"What to expect from this mix…?  A vast array of different genres that are somehow being crammed together in a (hopefully) fluid way.  Expect everything and anything I’m liking at the moment.

The theme I usually like to do for a longer set like this is a rolling boil.  Kind of a slow build with a lot of side quests & side missions along the way.

UC017 // Mash is an exceedingly versatile artist who offers listeners & dancers much in the way of energy & vision.  The mix is stylish splitting its time between driving moments and more sparse rhythms, with rave-adjacent vocals and classic electro motifs throughout.

"So it's a bit of everything that I've been loving lately.  A  bit of electro, a bit chuggy and bit proggy - maybe even a bit of postpunk at the end!  I wanted to put something together that blends a lot of my go-to tracks as well as some that I rarely get to play out."

UC018 // This week, Anna B steps into the bakehouse to deliver a peak time mix that pulls you into the centre of a club night dancefloor from the outset.  Anna’s track selection builds intensity, but mixing style let’s the track breathe and allows for those moments of reprieve we need in the early hours.

"I was going for peak, club time, tracks that I would love to hear on the dance floor and that give me that feeling of a proper moment.  I don't often get to play peak hour sets, so the thinking was: you’re in the club, it’s 2am and you’re totally in it and everyone - friends, randoms, whoever - is on the same vibe."

UC020 // DJ MACARONI has been an ascendent name in the world of feel good dance music across Sydney and nationally with another successful tour under her belt.

The mix here, is a reflection of the dreamy, uplifting sets from her time in Albania with tracks from some of her favourite Australian producers.  

"This mix was inspired by my time at Kala Festival in Albania last year, where I got to see DJs like Job Jobse, Kamma & Masalo, and Alex Kassian play extended 6 hour sets on the beach, soundtracking the most glorious sunrises and sunsets."

020 - DJ MACARONI

UC021 // Less is more is the mantra for Sydney-based producer, Harley Ferris where precision propels both his productions & selections to great effect. All of this is on display in the following mix which manages to feel rich for its hour long run time.

As always we’ve published a accompanying interview with Harley where he offers some perspective on getting unstuck in the production process, a few good stories from memorable times on the dancefloor and announces an upcoming self released EP.

Something special is going on in the Australian music scene.  Every week there is release after release, event after event from talented individuals & collectives bringing our unique sound & approach to dance music to the fore.  

This mix explores many of those influences through a techy journey that hovers at around 130bpm and never lingers in one place for too long.

UC022 // Next up, is DJ Netburner who has recently returned to Melbourne with a back pocket full of stripped down, rolling minimal tunes.  

This mix floats in the void of a steady march with some intriguing emerging ideas as well as an unreleased track with signature Netburner sampling & techy goodness.

"l've been really interested in mixes and songs that have a bit of push-pull to them like the intensity or feeling of the song isn't always building directly towards being more energetic or more intense.  It has a bit of a push-pull feel to it or like ebb & flow so that's what I wanted to do with this mix.  It starts off a little bit more minimal before getting fuller towards the middle and then stripping back towards the end, with little peaks in between."
