We're willing to put good money on Dixon's remix of 'The Dawn' being a staple of his summer sets this year and it's a pretty good bet. 

His remix puts a growling, fierce new take on the original and he swaps delicate tones for rumbling bass hits and synths that propel and drive the track forward with an intensity only he can conjure up.

An outstanding EP all round and a remix from Dixon that ranks as one of his best to date.

For a little more than a decade the notorious duo known as Kotelett & Zadak has been making waves on the electronic club music scene with releases on Hi Freaks, Exploited Ghetto and Poker Flat Recordings amongst many others. So it was just a question of time until the two would touch down on Upon.You Records as well, ready to add some excellent bangers to the labels 2k19 catalogue.

The title track „Sapiens" exactly shows why Kotelett & Zadak have turned into a successful and in demand production force over many years, grabbing punters' attention immediately with a spacial, hypnotic TechHouse attitude and a subtle, yet captivating and well trippy synth melody as a main motif that won't leave your brains ever again.

With „Lord Buchla" we see Kotelett & Zadak paying homage to one of the most remarkable and well known creators of modular synthesis machines, once again bringing forth a spatial, stripped down and reverberating TechHouse vibe garnished with ever morphing, precisely shaped modulations, fever'ish breakdowns and ghostly, evolving sounds floating through a sonic realm best to be described as Intelligent Techno for a dedicated crowd of underground music lovers.

On remix duties for the title track „Sapiens" is Echonomist, a seasoned craftsman of the Greek club music scene. His variation takes the original cut to a whole new level, introducing a deep, brooding vibe, busy synth bleeps and an epic, slightly oriental main motif to this rework which defo deserves an exposed spot in every peaktime set over the course of the next year orr beyond.

Finally the 'Echonomist & Marco Resmann Remix Dub' of „Sapiens" keeps well up with the spatial, hypnotic vibe of this whole EP, presenting large scale build ups, busy hi-hat and shaker arrangements as well as a phenomal mid-range motif perfectly aligned with the deep, mystical undertone of the tune, bringing forth a further variation for the darkest hours of the night.

Based out of Washington D.C, Shades Of Play is a duo comprised of long time friends & label owners , Felipe Rivera & Derek Tucker.

Having met upon a chance encounter in 2011 they soon began collaborating on various style projects working dilligently to refine their sound. Their most recent notable release 'Hybrid Theories', reaching #1 on Traxsource's Top 100 Techno Charts.

'Seppuku EP' is a natural progression of our sound, we are both deeply introspective people and have dealt with tons of trauma in our lives and we have always struggled to try and encompass that in our music, with 'Seppuku' it was as if all the parts and things we had learned both in life and our craft came together. The tracks themselves are moody, melancholic with a touch of 80's and deep sounds. - Felipe & Derek

The lead track, ‘ Dupont Circle ‘ touches on the subject of inner battles, anxiety, alcoholism and drug use. One of my biggest struggles in life has been the constant feeling of emptiness, and seeking to fit in or being accepted. Throughout different points in my life I turned to alcohol and other substances to help me cope and try to better understand who I thought I needed to be. I still struggle with some of these internal questions but I no longer feel the need to use anything to make up for them. – Felipe

Life is about balance and balance helps us to keep control, ‘Minds Eye’, touches on the subject of depression and suicide. Suicide is a major public health problem and a leading cause of death around the globe. The effects of suicide go beyond the person who acts on this feeling; it has lasting effects on families, friends and communities. 
‘There was a belt around her neck and she was purple, all I could think is if I had been a minute later she would be gone, I should’ve listened closer, I knew they were battling internally…I made sure to get her help but I will never forget this moment. –

Endangered Records is set to release Light In The Lotus EP, the return to the label from founder @briancid.

After ending last year with the release of his debut album on Balance Music, Brian has been on a global tour in support of it. It’s taken him everywhere from Zurich, Moscow and Berlin, to Mexico City, Hawaii, and Cairo. The album was critically acclaimed by his peers, fans and the media, with Billboard featuring him in their ‘Ones To Watch’ section. With his first release of 2019, Brian continues the journey of lush & melodic techno started with the album, and is back on his own Endangered imprint with the Light In The Lotus EP.

The title track opens the release and features the first ever time of Brian using his own vocals. The cosmic beats merge perfectly with his infectious hook on ‘Light In The Lotus’, and those words also contain a deep personal meaning for Brian. ’Species of the Other Kind’ follows, and is aimed right at the dance floor. This one works well during the peak time hours, with unbridled energy from its arpeggiated synths. The pace is then switched up for the second half of the release, with ‘Spirals’ bringing forth more of a melodic and emotional vibe. ‘Melting Clock’ concludes the EP and builds tension with Brian’s signature extended breakdown, before ending the journey and setting the listener back down to earth.

Brian describes the EP: “While learning to enjoy the magical journey of life, this musical project turns into a clear reflection of how my story unfolds. To take it even further and give it stronger personal touch, I’ve printed my own vocals on it, although it was not part of the plan. As I wrote and recorded the reference vocals for another artist, I realized it only made sense for me to be the one reciting it. ‘I see the light in the lotus / inside of me there is a roar’. A state of mind that drifts towards the strongest level of enlightenment powerful as a lion’s roar, impacting earth with its presence. This four tracker continues the musical story of my last album Meteorite Man. Forward thinking driving beats, with a sophisticated touch of subtlety and power. Pronounced melodies diving deeper into a dramatic story. I aimed to push my sound even further just as I have pushed my body, mind & spirit.”
