The original mix combines elements from many different geographies and sub genres pulling strings at Dancehall, UK Funky and Afrobeat while the remixes bring different palettes to the dance.

03 Definitely (Cocotaxi Remix)

Gozar & Captain Planet (@djgozarla & @dj-captain-planet) reinterpret a forgotten tune to fit in on a modern dance floor. It's perfect for welcoming in the summer sun. 

In Captain Planet's own words - "Gozar and I have both connected over our shared deep love and appreciation for obscure vintage music from Africa and the diaspora since we first met at a warehouse party in 2011.. I think? He had just come back from Colombia with a stack of dusty Cumbia and folkloric LP's, and I was a recent transplant from Brooklyn who didn't know any locals yet. We clicked, I started coming to more parties that he and the Subsuelo crew were throwing, then I became an official member of the crew sometime around 2015. For those who don't know, Subsuelo is a tight collective of deejays, musicians, and one feisty photographer, who have been throwing global club nights in LA since 2010, often incorporating our trademark live flamenco meets hip hop element as well as providing a venue for guest artists and deejays from around the world. Josh (Gozar) & I (along with Canyon) opened the Subsuelo headquarters together that summer in an old rundown dentist office in Filipinotown that we converted into shared office/work space and a recording studio which became our base for daily operations. The space is constantly buzzing with group meetings, late night soiree's, and lots of vinyl records in rotation (like the one which gave us inspiration for this track together), with an occasional soundbath or yoga class taking place there as well. This song will not be available on Spotify, iTunes or other DSP, because quite frankly, we have sampled an old record and don't want to monetarily profit off the music. But we are happy to give away the tune for free download off of Soundcloud and share our updated dance floor take on this classic West African guitar band sound."

Gozar adds "I originally found this track on a trip to Barranquilla, Colombia back in 2011. I got some burnt MP3's full of tracks that DJ's play on the "Pico" sound systems - Salsa, Cumbia, Champeta, Dancehall and tons of African tunes. I actually took some photos and wrote an article for a Mediellin magazine my friend ran that you can check here, here and here. This one always stood out to me and was one of my staple tracks when Subsuelo first started. I'm excited to have a chance to collabo with Charlie and get a remix out there!"

Gala Gala tells the story of a village bully. It will transport you to Alego region, western Kenya, where all villages tell of his behavior and of their tiredness of all his wrong doings.
The innovative style of Gala Gala could be called electronic Benga: it borrows a lot of influence from this sound born in the region of Lake Victoria, but is also merged with electronic sounds and arrangements.
The Artist Ngalah Oreyo is a musician and music producer from Kenya. He is a successful musician who founded the award winning band Yunasi, with four childhood friends.
After many years, of working with Yunasi, Ngalah Oreyo decided to venture on new ideas which involve experimenting a lot with traditional and electronic music.Gala Gala is the first song from his upcoming EP.

From St Lucia to Jamaica to Ghana to Colombia, London born duo The Busy Twist have travelled the globe to create their dance floor killing productions. 

Their debut EP 'Friday Night' combines these cultures, respectfully crossing sound boundaries and joining the dots between Afro House, Kuduro, Latin and Uk Bass. 

The London Luanda Remix Series is the result of digging into 1970's popular music in Angola. Acclaimed by BBC radio host Annie Mac, and supported by the likes of Jillionaire, Buraka Som Sistema or Toddla T, some of these remixes are already being played throughout clubs and parties all over the world, but were never officially released. 

The release of these classic tribal reworks was eventually made possible thanks to the group’s recent trips to Colombia, where they worked alongside Systema Solar, Ghetto Kumbé, Nidia Gongora and Palenque Records, for an impressive variety of original productions, collaborations and remixes. 

In alliance with Colombia-based label Galletas Calientes Records, one of these fruitful encounters, the London Luanda Remix Series was finally materialised.

In this era of social distancing, when international travel and dancing together in clubs has been restricted to our daydreams, "Body Yako" delivers the much-needed, vibrant, uplifting sounds of Tropical Africa, directly to your living room dance floor. The 2nd single from Captain Planet's forthcoming album "NO VISA," "Body Yako" (or "Your Body") is a perfect expression of the global collaborative process employed throughout the entire album. Longtime friend and collaborator Thornato provided some guitar licks he recorded from Ghanaian maestro OT Woode (instrumentalist on Ed Sheeran's Grammy Winning album "÷"), then Captain Planet went to work building and arranging the beat, which fuses older elements of West African highlife and Soukous with the more modern aesthetics of current Afrobeat and Afro House. The track was then sent to mutual friends Kongo Elektro down in Cape Town, South Africa, where the vocals (sung in Swahili & French) were laid and sent back to Captain Planet in Los Angeles for more mixing and arranging. The finished song is an instant shot of Summertime vibes, irresistibly danceable and sure to lift the spirits of listeners from California to Cape Town and beyond!
