Monastery Rec. is honored to return with the second installment to it's Various Artists 'Vari-Tech' compilation series. Hosting a number of returning names from our previous 'FIRST MASS' [2020] compilation and the labels catalog, while simultaneously introducing a handful of new faces, 'SECOND COMING' delivers a range of different takes on a single concept, 'Glitch'. With no other constraints or major direction, each artist was given the freedom to contribute a track built on that theme alone, infusing each of their unique flavors. The results yielded a plethora of creatively different interpretations, some more abstract, while others - very on the nose. Through this compilation release, you will hear many literal glitch effects, lots of which are very electronic, like a device breaking, while others fall on the more 'organic' side, sounding more akin to that of a neon tadpole spawning ground...or something like that. We'll let you be the judge.

A special thank you to ALL the amazing artists who took the time to put in their hard work towards this release. Without them, this wouldn't have been possible. Please go show them all your support and love!

“guilt response” started initially as several left-over scraps from this house’s workstation that I decided to stitch together in my spare time. These scraps had a strangely alluring pull to me, similar to when I found this home. They were short but pleasant snippets of audio that I could’ve sworn I could previously recall the inner workings of, so it was only natural psychological forces that took over to finish the track in only a couple of weeks overall. It’s hard to explain the specific details but whenever I hit play on each snippet I could envision a time, invigorate an emotion, or capture the scent of a place. It sounds confusing to write the words out loud but it was like I wasn’t just using my imagination for these. It felt real, tangible. I’m still trying to understand the reasoning behind the familiarity of these tracks and the strange hold they have on my mind, so I will keep you updated within due time. It sounds daft in retrospect considering I couldn’t even recognize the face of the body that day due to natural decomposition, but I’m truly convinced this can help me. I’m working on something big and honestly I don’t even really know if I can do it, but I just have to witness the end of it. I can’t let this go considering how much I’ve spent on it overall. It’s the only lead I have right now since I fell so long ago.

Floral Strobe is the continuous flow between a collection of tracks I've been working very hard at for a year. Each track is meant to explore a different set of deeply interconnected ideas (especially ideas regarding texture) with each one of those tracks complimenting what came before/after it. The album was written using an extra conscious, disciplinary writing style which is based around the idea of actively resisting whatever feels most comfortable to do.

The project was accidentally started in early April 2019 where I got an idea for a track where the sub bass would just be pitching around all over the place and that would be the riff. This idea became the track known as "Bioluminess", it was supposed to be part of an EP but I was so excited about this bit that it rapidly blossomed into an album along with creation of "Bright like the Sun" and "Wing". I feel like the album format is the only way I can express what I want to express, so here you have a 53 minute excursion into my brain which you can load up onto your device for your own enjoyment/unenjoyment.
