A few words from Jarno: “With this mix, I wanted to communicate the sensitivity, harmony, and a certain sense of danger of that I feel is present in electro and Detroit. All important to me personally in regard of electronic music. The enigmatic moods combined with the rolling and occasionally looping sound makes this mix interesting in my own opinion. This largely combines the most important musical styles for me, ie Detroit techno, electro and IDM.”

Guest mix #105 Forehard for Deeprhythms

Natural Element proudly presents the long-awaited album The Paradigm Shift by one of Amsterdam’s finest and most prolific producers, Kid Sublime. Following on from the 12” single ‘You Got Me Runnin’’ which dropped in the summer, this 8 track, double LP offering is a special piece of work crafted during the pandemic years and Turbulence recording sessions with maestros Beka Gochiashvili and Mishulino. The album showcases the evolution of Kid Sublime’s sound and the influence of London’s vibrant broken beat scene, with him having connected with some of the artists around the time of the passing of the legendary Phil Asher. It touches on house, bruk and even techno, with his signature soulful touch palpable across the whole record. Features include talented London artist Oliver Night, Sydney-based vocalist Natalie Slade and long time collaborator, flautist Han Litz, amongst others. The Paradigm Shift takes you on a deep sonic journey straight from the heart, celebrating love, connection, spirituality and human evolution. There’s introspective moments with the jazzy house drifter ‘The Awakening’ and the dubbed out bass of ‘Kingz’, as well as joyful moments such as the uplifting ‘Heaven’s Glory’ and the romantic ‘Stay Over’, which is as soulful as it gets. ‘Bring It Come’ brings some minimal bruk flavours reminiscent of Bugz in the Attic, and the title track takes things a bit darker with a club-ready roller. Sitting somewhere between the living room and the dancefloor, this album is sure to enliven the spirits of many a discerning listener and bring some much needed radiance and hope into people’s lives.

Where has 2020 gone? 

We are almost out the other side of this insane year, and we at GGHQ hope that you are all safe and sound. The music never stops, and we hope that our friends have all found some solace and enjoyment through the simple acts of listening, discovering & sharing. 

We're super happy to see out 2020 with this, our last mix of the year. We couldn't be in better hands to be honest. Øyvind is a top selector, producer, remixer and he is one of those DJ's who is beyond versatile. He just knows music inside and out and is a formidable talent in the booth... genre and sounds are no barriers to him and his own style is unmatched. A longtime former resident at Oslo's clubbing institution JAEGER, Øyvind held down Wednesday nights there for a decade plus welcoming a host of global DJ luminaries and tastemakers into his zone. 

Here we find Øyvind in a relaxed mood, combing his impressive collection for more spaced out and downtempo grooves, offering a deep selection to soothe and get lost in. We're really pleased to present this lovely mix to you from our friend and someone who we feel is a true talent out there in the vast world of music we all inhabit. Here we are with another episode of our international mix series. This one is coming straight from the city of Bristol, by Paul Wise aka @placid_88. Paul is a veteran of the scene, collecting records from the late 80's and kicking asses on the dancefloor from the beginning of the nineties, becoming legendary for his sets of 303-drenched acid and his reputation as 'The DJ's DJ'. Nowadays, with his new project, the "We're going deep" label, he's releasing "new music for the dance floor, your front room or even just your headphones". 
He has cooked a straight quality mix of deepness, merging spacey techno and uplifting basslines, with his recognizable acidic touch, and filled in with fresh tunes and unreleased material as well.
