Thelonius

Mike Hobart is an experienced and soulful saxophonist who has played with the likes of Esther Phillips and Maceo Parker. His first inspiration was the interactive flow of Miles Davis’ 1960s quintet and the edgy freedoms of latter-day Blue Note, but a lot has happened since then. 

The Urban Jazz Collective keeps the improv flowing, but add world music flavours and the rhythms of contemporary dance. They deliver a mix of strong originals and well-chosen covers; recent gigs include a live Jazz FM broadcast.
