Echoes from the planet Venus have been detected and now we set off on a journey to discover the source of  these mystifying sounds.

The sun is shining, a warm breeze gently caresses our cheeks, and our flight crew make an extremely chilled out impression!

It seems that conditions are perfect for this journey to our hot planet neighbour.

Recently Martin aka @neobeo  reached Singnale from Venus.
He couldn't ignore these signs and it didn't take two light seconds to sit behind his cockpit to create the soundtrack for a wonderful, adventurous journey towards Venus.
He had to go far into the music universe to find all the tracks in a format suitable for travel, refined them with the voice of Andy Snatch, flute and other magical means so that we can now sit comfortably and buckle the seat belts according to the instructions of the crew.
Would have thought that we could still travel at Easter ......!

Kürzlich haben Martin aka ɳeoƁeơ Singnale von der Venus erreicht.
Diese Zeichen konnte er nicht ignorieren und es hat keine zwei Lichtsekunden gedauert um sich hinter sein Cockpit zu setzen um den Soundtrack für eine wunderbare, abenteuerliche Reise in Richtung Venus zu kreiren.
Er musste weit in das Musik Universum hinaus, um alle Tracks in reisetauglichem Format zu finden, hat sie mit der Stimme von Andy Snatch, Flöte und anderen magischen Mitteln so verfeinert, so das wir uns jetzt bequem setzen können und den Anweisungen der Crew gemäss die Sitzgurte anschnallen.
Wär hätte gedacht, dass wir an Ostern doch noch reisen können......!

About this journey:
In the past 1.5 years, time passes differently than before. Slower and faster at the same time. No one was really prepared for this form of a global pandemic, a global crisis. It’s a long and tough wait, sometimes hoping and fearing. Existences are threatened directly or indirectly. For me, it also shows how little capacity the global North has in dealing with existential crises. Norms and moral boundaries are shifting, revealing all their ambiguity and hypocrisy. Many people in the global South are still waiting for vaccines, and here millions are not getting vaccinated out of irrational fears and assumptions. Terms like dictatorship are grossly distorted. Freedom is demanded, but it means selfishness, lack of empathy, bossiness and malice. There’s a loud and aggressive, hyperpivileged minority that screams the loudest. But people die in silence. A simple and frightening logic.  It is a matter of time. It is about patience. It's about courage. About renunciation. About each and every one. What exactly music and art can achieve in this disturbing time, we all define.

M.RUX records legendary set after legendary set, and he's back after some time since his last one, joining us for our birthday número cinco. Soulful, bluesy, world exotica, misty psychedelia and of course, crazy good drums. 

"It's all framed in by samples of Georges Perec and Bernard Queysanne's film:
"Un Homme Qui Dort" from 1974 
which to seems fit our current situation pretty well."

Connecting for such a special moment, the artwork comes from a collab between collage geniuses Ventral is Golden and Dima Rabik. Their visual work is enchanting and them working together for this is just heartwarming.

Welcome back, dear listener. It's a pleasure to have you here. 

So, wheels are in motion and guess what? We got multicultural top selecta Lotte Ahoi to start the year off right. 

With her recording from Plan:et C - Beta 2021, she gently leads our imagination to a soothing garden of colorful music, where every flower represents a track carefully planted and nourished. As you wander and smell the fresh air, you feel that you can call this your home and come back anytime you want.

When listening to this experienced digger, you notice a potpourri from so many directions, yet, what has always remained constant in her mixes is the rather relaxed rhythm and lots of melody she swings. For years we keep falling in love with her mixes, as we align with her philosophy that musical boundaries only exist in our heads.

In order to understand what moves her and her listeners, one has to imagine the nature of a sloth – a sloth that loves music but hates stress, instead choosing to hang on a tree, watching the flowers grow and waiting for the sun to shine in her ears.

Lotte, we thank you for your never-ending search for diamonds in the rough, slowly weaving them together in a slowmomoving and sneakily surprising wave of Funkumbiafrorientropical Slothdisco (yeah, that's right). 

Shout out to @urbancosmonautradio, a distinguished label and mix series that she runs with Burntale, which keeps being an inspiration for Tepeme.

##SHORT INTERVIEW IN ENGLISH BELOW :)##

Vorsommerliche Frische breitet sich aus und mit viel Sonne im Sound lässt sich ein verträumtes grinsen nicht vermeiden. Leise wie eine Eule schleichen sich die wunderbarsten Soundschnipsel ein und verbreiten eine wundersame Wohlfühlstimmung. Es fühlt sich warm und bekannt an. Wir sagen danke an die Eule El Búho und segeln weiter Richtung Sonnenuntergang.

Gut Ding braucht ja bekanntlich Weile. Das lange Warten hat sich aber so was von gelohnt!

Wie dieser Mix entstanden ist und was die Idee dahinter war, könnt ihr weiter unten gerne selbst nachlesen. Derweil mal viel Vergnügen beim Hören :)


HML: Can you tell us what the idea was behind this mix?

EB: This mix has been a whole process haha. When the Heimlich crew reached out over a year ago I felt I wanted to do something different. It kind of bores me to make just mixes of music I like and I always like to have a bit of a challenge. I realised at the time that I have grown this amazing collection of remix stems from a bunch of talented artists who asked me to make a remix and so I thought, wouldn’t it be fun to make a mixtape only using these stems - kind of like using them as a sample bank and create an hour of original music from them. 



HML: You put a lot of effort into this mix, how was your approach of working on this one?

EB: I’d called it a recycled music mix. You can maybe recognise little snippets from like Chancha Via Circuito or the vocals like from Eat My Butterfly are a bit more obvious but at the same time they are completely new songs. All of the music from this mixtape has never been released and only exists in this mix. It is also all at 90 BPM which was another fun challenge pitching down all these stems from other BPMs and keys to take them to a whole new context. The only issue was I underestimated just how long it would take to make a one hour mix of completely original music and tracks and I ended up dipping in when the inspiration struck and adding a new movement or song. By the end the project was over 350 channels and my Ableton was totally fed up with me opening it and making even small changes at the end was a total headache haha. So a big thank you to Martin and the Heimlich family for their endless patience and letting me indulge in this odd way of making a mix :P 



HML: After working for so long on this mix, how would you describe the work afterwards?

EB: It’s funny to listen back. I have no idea what musically it was going to sound like and I still don’t really know how to categorise it but I suppose that is what creativity is about, just feeling it, going with the flow and seeing what happens. I would also like to make a big shout out to all the artists that contributed to this mixtape without realising it ;) Hard to make a tracklist but I can definitely share a picture of my folder of remix stems to give you an idea oh and of my Ableton project (if I can open it hahaha).

When Maria and Luis, better known as the Portuguese duo @ohxala, get their magic hands on their musical gear, and their unmistakeable rhythms and grooves hit your ears, you can be quite sure your body will get quickly into motion. The colourful and energetic musical signature the couple has developed throughout the past 7 years, carries their never-ending love for making people dance and smile. Their world music infused electronica emerges from all the impressions they collect on their numerous travels, may it be nature, the people they meet or the new tastes they experience. 
For the live set they made for our podcast series and that we are so happy to share with you today, they envisioned a journey through a landscape of mountains, a float through an immensity of nature. It all starts with a short train ride, away from the city noise. Melodies levitate us right onto an imaginary dance floor where drums, shakers and trippy voices invite us to let ourselves go, be ecstatic and dance into a sunrise with orange and blue skies... 
In this mix they combined their latest tracks and remixes, most of them unreleased but we promise they will be out very soon ;) …
