Well Dwellers

Laying in bed, the idea came to me to compile a playlist to help communicate to my friends and family far overseas what I have been going through since I left. I also hope that by presenting in the context of a Khasi, I can communicate something about being a DJ to the local community.

This playlist-mix reflects on the beauty and depression that comes with monsoon season in Meghalaya. "Slap Khadsaw Synnia" is Khasi for "fourteen nights rain", where the rain does not stop. Although we have not had slap khadsaw synnia this year, the rain feels like it has been almost continuous for six months minus a brief period in July. This recording touches on themes of water (ka um), weather, loneliness, love, and hope.
