TIME IS A THIEF

URSINA is a singer-songwriter from Switzerland. Born and raised in a small village high up in the Swiss mountains, her musical universe was influenced by classical music and by the folk songs sung in her mother tongue of Romansh, a minority language only spoken in the eastern Swiss Alps. In her teenage years she started to listen to artists like Feist, Tom Waits, Jeff Buckley or Billie Holiday. She has always been strongly influenced by folk and pop music and is especially captivated by artists from Scandinavia like Ane Brun, Efterklang, Jose Gonzalez or Wildbirds & Peacedrums.
At the age of 25 Ursina packed her bags and moved to Copenhagen, where she lived for one year. Strongly influenced by her Nordic surroundings and her being far away from home, Ursina started to write songs, recorded them with her scandinavian friends and released an EP called “Lontan” as URSINA'S DANISH LABORATORY in January 2012.
Back home in Switzerland, it didn’t take long before she started working on new songs mixing northern influences with her musical roots. Songs like «La stad ei vargada» reflect a dark melancholia typical for the romansh folk song heritage. Ursina is combining it with subtle, finely crafted pop and a lucid voice, crisp and clear as the air coming down from the glacial areas of her home up in the mountains. Released as an EP called «Time is a Thief» (April 2013), these atmospheric songs got big cheers from music lovers and media alike. Praised as one of the most interesting upcoming swiss artists, Ursina won two Swiss Live Talents Awards, including the prestigious Public Price awarded by the audience. Ursina was featured in various radio shows and in a nationwide TV documentary.  Backed by a trio, Ursina's live appearances reconcile moments of fragility with appealing confidence. In January 2014, she released her latest EP «Hiding behind a Mask».

In January 2017 her debut album "You Have My Heart" was released on Radicalis.
