Far East Family Band - Metempsychosis

Get ready for an psycho rock electric sound journey, by train from
Otwock. Oranżada is a group of musicians from Otwock and Radość near
Warsaw. The group, set up in 2001 has issued 4 albums and played
several hundred gigs, including major festivals: psychedelic Klangbad,
or last year Open'er in Gdynia. Influences of German kraut rock,
melancholy psychedelia and post punk are clearly perceived both in
recordings and live performances of this very interesting band. Thanks
to "Samsara" album, issued in spring 2010 the group gained wider
publicity. Their new aspect was very well received by public and
critics. The last concerto on the album is "Impro-Miron", based upon a
poem by Miron Białoszewski, entitled "The ride to Otwock".
Off-handedly it became the key to new activities, recordings and
concerts. Preparations of a new musical material for a theatrical
performance of  PKP Falenica club resulted in establishing new album
"Once Upon A Train". This time the group created a musical story,
taking place in the realities of railway leading from Otwock to Wawer.
The direct inspiration were modernistic station buildings built in
1934-1936, as well as their surroundings. 10 stations and 10 different
musical pictures, in which kraut rock concoction of rhythm and
Slavonic psychedelia is wrapped in western guitars. Charming
melancholic melodies, inspired by the folklore of pre-war Jewish
diaspora, as well as exposed Slavonic instruments, take us for an
ecletic travel in time and space, pulsating with rhythm. The original
sound of Once Upon A Train is obtained not only by exposing emotions
of five musicians, but also by playing with emotions of erstwhile
passengers. With the untypical orchestra, including cajon, trumpet, or
harmonica Oranżada annex new spaces. The musical material was
registered in in Analogowe Rogalowo and keep analog character by
mastering in Golden Mastering-Ventura CA

Otwock

OM have announced the follow up to 2009's God is Good, a five song suite entitled Advaitic Songs, will be issued via Drag City on July 24th, 2012. Where God is Good was the first step in a more ornate and sophisticated direction for Om, Advaitic Songs achieves a level of composition that would've been impossible to foresee.

Advaitic Songs maintains the singularity of purpose that informs the core sound of OM, yet every element reaches further than before. Whatever drone-doom genre that had been hoisted on the duo in years past has been decimated by the sheer imagination, expansive quality, and meticulously detailed arrangements of this new album. For a band that has continually followed its own course, and stood alone in its sound and approach, Advaitic Songs for certain, is the band's most focused, progressive document.


OM - State of Non-Return

For the better part of a decade Chicago’s Locrian have been creating sprawling, blackened drone masterpieces. With ‘The Clearing’ (previously release in late 2011 on vinyl only) Locrian’s signature sound of ominous crescendos mixed with powerful atmospherics and pulverizing tension reached its highest point to date, earning the record glowing reviews across the board from Decibel Magazine to Pitchfork. Locrian achieve what many bands set out for, but few accomplish: making truly terrifying music without sounding campy, contrived or corny. Now renamed ‘The Clearing/The Final Epoch’ the record is finally available in CD form complete with a full second CD consisting of almost an hour of rare and unreleased material. Limited edition first pressing comes housed in a gorgeous mini “tip-on” gatefold LP package.

What’s weird about it?  What’s weird about it.  

Not odd like a Zappa completist’s enthusiasm.  You could pick them out of a lineup with a hand over your good eye.  

Not intentionally strange as the neon camouflage of “prog rock”.  The plumage of exotic time signatures is just a slow sheet of rain from this distance and we had the roof fixed.

Perhaps weird isn’t the right word.  It lacks a bit of weight in this present tense as just getting your mail this evening can beat the strangest thing you did two years ago.

It’s just, something, y’know?

What I mean to say if music was a room with no windows and the lamps turned off, you couldn’t get from one side of it to the other without banging yr shin on an ottoman that just shouldn’t be there.  I ‘d rather not get to the door un-jostled.  

Dedicated to the stubbed toe.  You are always welcome here for a little while.  Think about how good it will feel when it stops hurting.
