Summary of the E section: they are mutually supportive and compatible lovers but Stede will not allow kissing on the lips, although kissing elsewhere is good. Ed finds validation and worth in the interaction that he had not experienced in past interactions.  Ed assumes that he is expected to leave after sex, because the is how things have been in his past and Stede reassures him that he should stay. They sleep entwined.

How long must I be sad each day    
in deep perplexity?   
How long will my opponent stand
