Released on 19th January, Blomfelt’s latest offering provides another generous portion of escapist alternative electronic creativity inspired by a still frame from the Wim Wenders film, "Paris, Texas"...

Henrik Blomfelt, one half of the duo @blomfeltandnarby, is set to grace the electronic music space with an undeniably unique body of work. The second single from his forthcoming “I’m interested in apathy” album cuts an even deeper line than its predecessor, exploring the concept of recreating timeless scenes through sonic expression.

Another exemplary specimen of Blomfelt’s seemingly bottomless creative facility, “A Vision” has a clear transactional connection between your eyes and ears. Created by referencing an ocular image from Wim Wenders’ 1984 road drama “Paris, Texas”, its aural scenic representation presents itself as a synthesis of breakbeats, ambient electronica, and deepened cinematic tones.

“It captured Travis in a car park, illuminated by a soft green light, with the late sunset gracing the background—a poignant scene from the film’s conclusion. During the creation of the track, I made this image my computer background, regularly turning to it for motivation before every session. “As the track evolved through its numerous iterations, it underwent significant changes, making it a bit uncertain whether the final outcome truly captured the essence I initially sought. Nevertheless, having this evocative image as a wellspring of inspiration undeniably played a pivotal role in igniting the initial creative spark for the track.” - Blomfelt

Poignantly expressive and very much a record that you can almost see as well as hear, “A Vision” further plays on the exploratory ethos of Blomfelt’s upcoming album, which he says is “a yearning for those moments of contentment and profound happiness to linger, an unrelenting desire to grasp them tightly.”

The first time I heard the name Sweetlight was when I was Djing with Ivan Smagghe and he played this insane trance-rave-bomb and I got acid flashbacks from 94 and ran up to the booth and asked what is that and he said (as if I was the last guy on the planet to find out)....."it's called ABUSATOR". The 2manydjs did an edit, and over the next year, that Sweetlight record was an anthem that we all played EVERYWHERE, one of those records that never let's you down, one of those tracks that makes your job as a DJ very easy. So good it makes you lazy.

Then last year at Sonar, I went to hear them play live, and right before their set I met them, and met Julien and he gave me a CD with some new stuff on it. By ACCIDENT, he gave me a CDR with all his personal stuff as well....and I fell madly in love with one of those songs.....and now after a worldwide legal battle, hundreds of emails, a million rocked parties and a few broken hearts, I am very proud to present "Le Grand Sommeil"

I don't know so much about him, but French people tell me Etienne Daho is a big deal.....and this track is a rave-trance-poptravaganze featuring a big chunk of a famous Daho song. Now I know a lot of you don't like trance or pop or French people....BUT trust me...this is magic. I have been playing it last in my sets all year and it is pure modern trance romance......it is the future and the past all rolled up into one.

And then, just when you are reduced to tears of joy on the dance floor....the b-side brings a gorgeous guitar driven late night New Order lite love-jam to ease you down gently

I liked this record so much, I re-launched my label for it.

“The musical project of New Yorker musician/producer Henry Hearse, with the contribution of Moody Romeo (Bass Guitar) and Lee Kevlar (Brass, Drums), has several irons in the fire but, judging by the first two previews, even if completely different to each other, are synthesized with deft balance and cohesion sharing distinctively minimalistic and visceral gripping qualities.
While the opener “Hydrophiinae” is as pulsing and robotic, as it is edgy and obsessive, cyber-electro-punk cut, the closer is completely a different beast, drawing influences by jagged no-wave dissonance, swampy Gun Club post-punk murkiness and sordid, turbulent The Birthday Party raw bluesiness. but from what can be understood from the teasers over his FB page also, EBM (above all), goth-tinged electro darkwave and Suicide-like synth-punk suggestions can be added to the extensive and intriguing menù.
Foreground, at the same time repetitive and solemn, doomsaying bass throbs, a blisteringly evocative sax, tinny ominous percussive drones, a devilish voice, hoarse and distorted, in a Freudian free-flow association building a possessed tirade of rhymes and alliteration, underpinned by terse and hypnotic drums to proceed in a mysterious, hypnotic, slow yet inexorable pace, shredded by piercing metallic guitar riffs, sharp, frantic, taut always restrained to the point of pent up angst, while sparse swirls of sax add an alluringly eerie middle-eastern feel and the constant menacing bass vibrations foster unsettling claustrophobic obscure emotions embodying by a relentless subdued tongue-lashing that hisses and growls, as it taunts, humiliates and tempts whoever will listen.
A dense, immersive, tantalizing sound, pervaded by a raw obscure and gloomy intensity whose disturbing echo will reverberate deeply into the deepest recesses of your mind.

1) FPU - Crockett's Theme / Seven Of Nine:

already a decade old, but these tracks still have not really been bettered when it comes to the 80's electro-techno revival of the early 00s. At the time, i was so in love with them, and they really helped Turbo grow at a critical time. Peter Benisch was a thoughtful, talented producer, and i loved all his music.

2) Martini Bros - The Biggest Fan (Blackstrobe Remix)

i remember this being one of my favorites, and a record that really marked Turbo "coming out" internationally. The original was amazing, but Blackstrobe just nailed a remix that perfectly summed up the feelings and the mood of the time. Fun, playful, vocal..... and got Ivan Smagghe on our label!!! A definitive Turbo record.

3) ZZT - Lower State of Consciousness

i tried to avoid my own records, but the fact is that this is just a ridiculously dope record: genuinely weird, undeniably powerful, and not easy to duplicate (i know, ive tried). I also like records that capture a new feeling or a new relationship, and this was the SOUND of me and Zombie Nation getting in studio for the first time. I think its one of the best we have released. yes, i am biased.

4) Panash - Jack 2 Jack (Jesper Dahlback Remix)

this is a classic Turbo formula: find an old record that you felt was underated from your personal collection, aquire the rights, and get a master like Dahlback to remix it to perfection. The early years of Turbo would never have been the same without Jesper, and this was one of the first tracks that got us global cred.

5) Moby - I Like To Move In Here (Proxy Remix)

first off, having a big international name like Moby on the label felt legit, but thats not why i chose this. I picked it cuz for many years Proxy was THE go-to guy for total nu-jack-rave mastery. Yes, "Raven" was bigger, but i always felt this remix was incredible, with a deep and unique understanding of techno-funk. still sick. always dope. he still has never been beat.

6) Clouds - Consciousness

of the techno renaissance era tracks of the past few years, this one stands out for two reasons: first, because its a truly special techno anthem, and i think arguably the best techno record we ever released. second, because it marked a continued commitment to an artist and their development: Clouds were my fave from day one, but they just got better and better, and worked closely with me and my brother......and that feels like REAL label progress.
